I will admit that I didn't dress professionally for the first two shows I showed at. The person who I bought my puppies from did not advise me on how to dress for the show and there are very few books that talk about how to dress for a show. After I saw pictures, I knew I wasn't doing it right. And I've really changed my style.

I think it is important to ask questions. Maybe attend a few shows to see how they dress for their shows. IABCA is more casual than AKC; I'm not sure about ARBA, NAKC shows.

There are several books written by well known handlers that speak too appropriate dress code for the ring.....

While the dress is professional and should be to be a backdrop for your dog....there have been times, when I wasn't showing that a fellow exhibitor asked me to go in for them, since they were showing 2 dogs and both had won their class, and believe me jeans and tennis shoes are not appropriate dress....but, when there is a need, one must do what they gotta do.

the jacket I am wearing was given to me from Jay Amon so it must be proper ring attire...

So pretty Debby Ray!

I love to look at show pics/win pics...EVERYBODY always looks so good and I love it!

I like my yorkie's bow to compliment what I'm wearing atleast a little.
Love Red's and Orange. Have even used pink on a puppy.

Not to worry I do not do it for a business, it is just every once in a while I get out the stuff and make some. Years ago I use to make them for several handlers and also wholesalers, it paid my way to shows. But now my life is so busy I don't get the time to sit and make bows very often.

I just got tired of seeing the same bows in the ring. That and the fact that each yorkie's head is different, a bit larger, ear set a fraction tighter, or higher, face a little typey...so, I can make them for each yorkie specifically, using the colors that bring out their gold to it's best advantage. I do make them for fellow exhibitors, but only as a friend and not for sale.

I keep an inventory of about 1,000 bows but I always want something new...Most of the bows are for Shih Tzu but I do have a lot of Yorkie bows. And you are so right about getting just the right size and color for each dog.

Where could we see your techniques? I would also like to learn how to make them because all the bows on shows to buy are the same
