New to the Show Ring I am new to the Show Ring, my 1st show dog and I have 4 shows under our belt. We jumped right into the competition knowing little to nothing and Yes, it was obvious. We have been attending local conformation training classes which have proven to be very beneficial to us. We will be back into the ring soon hopefully looking less like novices. What I am looking for is more advice from any of you who have been there, done that. And maybe finding someone else in my situation who would like to look into the possibility of teaming up to share expenses and help each other as it seems very difficult to attempt alone in the beginning. In advance, thanks for any help/advice you have to offer.

I am not entered in any shows right now. I am planning on attending several of the shows coming up such as Ft. Worth, both of the Grove shows, OKC, Shawnee, etc. I am putting my schedule together on my calender.

We all had to start somewhere and you are doing great by going to handling classes. I still learn something new in class. It also gives another place for others to go over and check your dogs. When you are at shows too - watch and see what the others are doing. Take in what looks good and feels right. Just remember others make mistakes too and you do not want to pick up thier mistakes. I was at one of my first shows after returning to the show ring and felt a little unsure of myself. I saw someone - constantly brushing their yorkie in the ring, infact the judge was having to wait on them a little too long. But I thoght this is what you have to do. So I did it! I later read - it was totally wrong. You don't have to constantly make sure that each hair is in its place every second. But I learned. And you will too. Good luck! T.

Another thing to remember always walk your dog into the ring and out of the ring.
