The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America has a National Show in conjunction with The Yorkshire Terrier Club of NY every year in February. The show is held at the New Yorker Hotel (8th Ave & 34 ST) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It's scheduled the weekend before The Westminster Dog Show at the Garden. You can find info on the show on YTCA.org

" Thanks " for the information Mardelin. I'm going to look up the web site. How exciting would that be to see so many Yorkies in one place.

Hi All-

I wrote an email to the Chairman inquiring about the show. Here's what he had to say:

Heather,

All shows are in the Grand Ballroom (2nd Floor) of the New Yorker Hotel (8th Ave and 34th Street). The YTCA has their main show on Sunday, Feb 11 (all day) and the New York club has their main show on Sat, Feb 10. Both clubs have sweepstakes shows (fun show for puppies) on Friday. Late on Friday afternoon, many people attend the Yorkie judging at the Progressive Show (all toy show) at the Pennsylvania Hotel a few blocks away. Lots of opportunities to see our breed. The AKC does not allow unentered dogs on the show grounds. Please join us for a great weekend.

Hope to see you there Heather...........Lots of gorgeous, well bred yorkies in one location.

The Grand Ballroom though large is taken up by the ring and exhibitors. There is seating, but it does get very crowded and warm in there. Vendors are outside the Ballroom on the 2nd floor.

Sounds like staying at that hotel so that you can freshen up or take a break would be your best bet. We booked our rooms today.

Yes, I did ask. I've never attended a show before and I wasn't sure if I was allowed to bring my baby or not.

My boyfriend and I have been talking about taking a trip to NY for a while now... now we have a good reason! we have several friends that live in the city we could crash with! Can someone give me the info (days, times, location, need tickets?) and we would love to come & meet some Yorkie Talkers! Ralfie always enjoys a new playmate as well Great idea, hope to meet some of you!

sorry guys, for some reason I didn't see the posts where dates & location had already been posted. It sounds like a ton of fun, but I wish I could bring Ralfie! I second Kalina82 on hiding them in a carrier! Maybe I could have someone babysit him if not

Yes, you can bring your baby, however, AKC rules do not allow unentered dogs on the show site....you can take him outside the area......

Hey I will be there, pulling up in a big black limosine
It does sound like alot of fun.
I have been to a broadway show Zero.
Shopped in New york Zero.
I am not exactly the big explorer, New york type, fly by the seat of my pants type gal. I have missed out on alot of fun. Scares me!
But it sure would be fun to hear about anyone going experiences there, without a doubt.

There are several reasons for not being allowed to bring your yorkie onto the show site. Health for your yorkie is one. However, it is a dog show and dogs being dogs can create a disturbance and therefore distracting the dogs in the ring.

I have never seen anyone turn away if their Yorkie was in a tote bag or small crate. No one ever knew I had one with me until I let them sit on my lap.

No, I've never seen them turn anyone away at a Specialty as long as it's in a Tote, but I have at an All Breed Show. Since it is an AKC rule all it takes is 1 person to complain.
