| After the dog show..... Well, I am home after the two day show here in Tennessee. I was able to see several of the show people that I am getting to know. Additionally, I was hoping to see a few new people and introduce myself......I feel better at this show, and less like an outsider......I guess due to the fact that I have been to the last 4 shows in and around the South.....and now I am not such a "newbie". Best part is, I can pick the winner 90% of the time.......which, makes me feel good... But, yes, you all knew this was coming.........I am a little down now, getting more and more tired of waiting to find my little show girl....I see all these show gals and guys....just hugging and kissing their little babies.......and I am sooooooooo jealous....but, one of the ladies let me hold a little girl that was showing...she was just the sweetest thing....hubby got to hold her too.....that was a sight....this big burly guy holding on to this little 4 lb prissy girl....LOL. Well, I was very happy to watch a specific Yorkie from a breeder I have spoken too several times.....I wanted to see in person what her Yorkies looked like.......the boy was gorgeous.........and she never wraps his coat..... Anyway......guess I am just rambling......and wishing that I had my little girl to snuggle up too tonight........well, maybe soon..... Shirley |

| Shirley, is she a YT member? Hang in there, you have to be networking while attending these shows and it will pay off. You even said you felt more comfortable today and this was your 4th show. You will find your little show girl, have faith!

Thanks for the motivation.....I know.....at some point it wil happen. The breeder is not a YT member. In fact I did not see ANY people from YT at this show. But, it was a "major" show....meaning the winner got a 3-4 pt major due to the size of the entries. I have spoken to the breeder at least 4 or 5 times on the phone....she is very nice and will be willing to help me when she does have something that will work. But, she cannot just "poof" a little female for me......and she does not have ANY problem selling her Yorkies......Its just a stretch for me financially when it, or if it ever happens. So, I still keep looking because nothing is absolute......and who knows her pregnant Yorkie may not have any females.....at least that will work for me, or that some other "experienced" show person may want....and already have put reserves on.... But, boy oh boy is this waiting hard, at least when I was pregnant, I knew that there would be an end with an expected outcome......LOL. So, I keep putting my feelers out, there may be a female from someone else that will be right for me. But, the best part is seeing these little guys, and how different they look, how different they act and how different their little facial expressions are. I had hoped to meet Brenda@ Starwood Yorkies there. Since we both live in the same town, I thought she may be at the show. But, no such luck......LOL. Ok, I will shut up now.... Thanks again. | Oh, Shirley! Your baby girl will come along someday. Just hold in there. Do you have a yorkie club or all breed club in your area? You could go to the meetings and help out - people will get to know you are serious and it will give you a chance to meet more people. Sometimes it is just through word of mouth. I met you at the Atlanta show. You are very sweet and the right one will come along for you - just hang on. T. |

| Thanks, Hi there......thanks for the nice words.....I actually thought you might come to the show in Murfreesboro this past weekend. I will keep plugging away......I will take your advice on trying to get into the YClub or Kennel Club, that may help me feel even more comfortable at the shows. I really do not have a problem going up to people and introducing myself......I did that with one of the more known handlers.....the Ulrich's....(sp?) who knows, I may need a handler too one day......LOL. I have so much fun watching the interactions of everyone at the show......I could have spent the entire day..... Thanks again. Shirley |

I wish you luck on your search. I'm sure the right one will come along at the right time. Joining a local Kennel club, as some one else suggested, is a good idea. then you can help with the shows that they sponsor and become more familiar with how it all works and make connections. | |

| Oh Shirley, Please hang in there. You have shown one thing... a strong and TRUE desire. I am only showing my girls because I was fortunate enough to breed/own them. I am actually waiting on my male show po to arrive.... It will happen and if you look really hard you will find someone that will work with you. "Most" of us new to the show world only want the best for one another. We love the sport, the fellowship, and love to see other's do well. Atleast that's how it is my neck of the woods. Best wishes to you! |

| Shirley, I hear you! I too have been waiting...we started going to shows 3 (or maybe 4?) years ago. Before I had children. Financally I just cannot swing $2000-3000 for a quality pup. We just bought a house, a new car and had baby#2. I am lucky that I have my two pet yorkies, Reggie and Kenzie to cuddle (and they LOVE to cuddle) I am trying to use that time to learn everything. Here is an idea, what about going to a handling class? Call around and ask, often breeders/owners will take 2 or more pups with them and just try to give them all a turn, ask the instructor if they would know of anyone who needs an extra hand. Explain that you just want to learn yourself what it takes. When we took the classes we actually took my mom's dog, and my two yorkies. My husband wanted to learn and so did my sister. They had a blast. Might be something else to prepare yourself for the ring.
