| cant tell if my puppy is a yorkie or a silky?! help My puppy, Harley, is 9 months old. I got him from a breeder who provided me with papers from CKC, which i am pretty sure the papers only say "terrier". After doing some research on google (and looking at comparison images) for some reason i feel like he may be a silky. He came with his tail undocked (was unaware until i met to pick him up), and he still has his doe (spelling?) claws, which i think are usually removed also. Please help me out and see if you can tell from his baby pictures..and as he gets older! I love him to death, and have no intention on breeding but am so curious if this breeder lied to me! thanks first pic- 3 months second pic- 5 months third pic- almost 7 mos fourth pic- current (9 months) http://i58.tinypic.com/1zogbj6.jpg http://i59.tinypic.com/2nsvyhc.jpg http://i62.tinypic.com/dy2047.jpg http://i60.tinypic.com/v79wkp.jpg |

| Yorkies & Silkies are so closely related, some breeders do not remove dewclaws, not docking tail? no answer on that. I had 2 yorkies dewclaws were not removed, be careful with them, keep up to date with nail clipping, dewclaws will curl like Rams horn, that's from my personal experience. I had a 17 lb AKC registered yorkie, many ppl thought she was a Silkie because of her size, she was big, but so beautiful, even my vet when I first took her in at 8 weeks old thought she was a silkie, all I could / can say. her AKC papers read yorkie. She looks like a yorkie to me, but a pic is just that, a pic, weight, height, length does not determine if she is yorkie or silkie. More members will soon offer their opinions. Yorkie, Silkie, both have same personalities, get into lots of mischief, born hunters. Happy to know one way or the other, you love her, but I agree, it would be nice to know for sure what she is and was the breeder truthful. All 4 of my yorkies AKC papers read "Yorkshire Terrier" not sure why yours would read just terrier, did you ask the breeder about that.

| Yorkie looking to me, especially around the muzzle and the eye-to-nose placement.

| Thanks for everyone's responses so far it's good to hear that most of you think he looks like a Yorkie! Can't figure out why the links won't work for some :/... But just looked at his papers again and they DO in fact say Yorkshire terrier. And the papers are from ACA, not whatever I said in the first place (my bad, was going off of memory before I checked) |
