Yorkie Talker | Dog show info Hi everyone ! I was wondering if anyone could give me more info about a dog show coming up that I am interested in attending (just to watch). Its in bridgewater nj for the westchester kennel club. What time would the dog show begin or when will the judging begin for the yorkshire terriers? I am wanting to go to hopfully meeting some breeders in my area. If anyone could help me out it would be helpful thanks!!!! |

Judging program is not out yet. here is link that you can save once judging program comes out; usually 7-10 days prior to show date.

They should have good vendors there as well; come prepared to shop! Take a camera, a small portable chair and plan on a days outing. The camera is to discreetly snap photos of the Yorkies and the exhibitors, which will help you place them after the event. A little bit of dog show etiquette, don't speak with the exhibitors prior to ring time, or when they are set up by the ring they will show in. Their focus will be on their dogs, and preparing for the ring competition. Afterwards is just great, especially when you see the exhibitors go back to their grooming area, and start rewrapping their show dogs. Another thing spend the money to buy the calendar, this will list all the dogs entered, their owners, and their breeders, and give details on who is competing in each class for the Yorkies. Male puppies go first, then next all the class winners, compete for Winners Dog. The Winners dog gets points. The winners dog will go into the Best of Breed competition. Female puppies next, then all the female class winners, compete for Winners Bitch. The Winners Bitch gets points. The Winners Bitch goes into the BOB competition. Last in the Breed judging is Best of Breed (BOB), all previously championed dogs/bitches plus the Winners of the classes, compete for the coveted BOB. As well Best of Winners will be chosen. Then BOB will compete in the Toy Group, for the even more coveted Group 1 or at least a placement in Group. It is instructive to watch Group competitions. The judging schedule and or the calendar will give you the details on when the Toy Group will be judged. Stay at ringside for the Toy Group competition, and watch how the competition unfolds. Root for your favourites! It is more than permissible to clap when the Yorkie is shown in Group....show your approval. Clapping during Class competitions. Given that many puppies are new to showing, most spectators will clap after judging is done. During BOB competition, clapping is indeed permissible when all those gorgeous specials enter the ring, and "go around".

| Hi Noelle, I see you are new, so I just wanted to say welcome. I just went to my first show less than 2 weeks ago. It was amazing! The dogs were just beautiful. At first it was confusing, but at the table where I paid my entrance fee, they had a couple of free booklets that explained everything. I learned so much. By the end of the weekend my eye for picking winners was getting so much better. You're going to have so much fun. Do come back and tell us all about it.
