| Does he have a chance? This is Corduroy he is a little over a year now and was thinking about showing him. I thought i would come here and see what you guys think. You can see in one of the pictures where i didnt cut the hair you can see his 2 toned hair, the silver going out and the blue coming in. Is this the color I want in showing? Im just learning and i would love for you guys to direct me to where i should start if he is show quality. I heard AKC is hard so i would like to start somewhere easier for my level. I know his hair needs to grow out first but would love your input! Any advice is appreciated! http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/...roo/dfd027.jpg http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/...roo/dfd001.jpg http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/...ter2012115.jpg http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/...ter2012103.jpg http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/...ter2012089.jpg http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/...ter2012061.jpg |

| Have you cut his hair? You really need a dog in full coat or close to that to do well in the ring.... |

| I think he is absolutely adorable! I think they are sticklers about long coats for the show ring....and he will need to know how to walk on a show lead, and how to "stack, naturally"....have you been working with him on any of that? When I was interested in maybe showing one of my babies, I went to shows and I asked about everything I could think of...ear set? eye shape? neck length? straight legs? tail set? level back? color was a big thing, no tan running into this, no black running into that....then they started telling me about their dogs, and the "great ears, size and structure", the great neck and how it was not too long and set just right on the body, level back with no sway, humps, etc, great legs, not bowed or "cow hocked",....soooooo many things they look at.....then you can be getting a great education and "hands on experience" with exactly what all these great points are and look like....it really helps you gain an objective viewpoint of your own baby.....and we still adore them even if those crazy judges dont see what perfection we see in our babies! |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I am assuming he is registered with AKC? I would suggest you go to some UKC shows. There every handler is and owner handler, as pro handlers are against the rules. You can bring your pup with you, and watch the Yorkies in the ring, and talk to some of the exhibitors. You will need to grow out his coat. That will take at least one year. As the coat gets some length to it, you will need to wrap the coat to protect the coat from breakage. Good luck and enjoy the shows.

| It can be hard to evaluate a dog just based on pictures, but if you'd like my honest opinion feel free to PM me.
