| Question regarding fabric for dog bed Hi Everyone, I have been a lurker for a while, reading and sitting back quietly taking many of the great posts here. I think this a wonderful place to meet other yorkie lovers and learn plus share tips about caring for our little furbabies... I have a question, and I placed it in this section because I do plan to show my male. He is 8 months old and while I wait for his gorgeous coat to grow out I am doing my best to keep his coat the best I can. I have looked at some silk dog beds, and thought to myself, "I should try making my own!" Now whether or not I will be able to accomplish this succesfully, (after all it has been about 10 years since I touched a sewing machine) I want to use fabrics that will be good to my lil guy's hair. Sooo....will faux silk do ok instead of silk? I am finding some really nice patterns and designs that are labeled "faux silk" so I am wondering if it is ok to use? Thank you in advance! |

| Faux silk is actually a polyester blend and some can contain cotton. Be careful with ones that have embroidery threading design as it does not hold up well as a dog bed and can get hooked on nails. Also faux silk should never have an iron on it to iron out wriggles as it tends to melt. Also keep faux silk away from the sun light. |
