How can you tell if your baby has "IT" My husband and I had talked about possibly showing my baby. This is the first Yorkie I have ever owned and so I am really clueless about it all. What do you look for in a puppy? He is 17 weeks right now and is about 2.5 pounds so far. The only thing I do know( I think lol) is that in order to show them they can't be over 7 pounds. Any help would be really great! Emms

You can also go to YTCA and take a look at the yorkie standard and also see pictures. You can also get a magazine -The Yorkshire Terrier where many show people place show pictures there. That will get you a start of looks, but you also have to read and check your baby for confirmation, coat texture, bite, etc.. which photos don't show you. And Pat is right - go to as many shows as possible and yes - have fun! Best of luck! T.

Well I figured out how to get a picture over there but thats it.LOL He is only 10 weeks in that picture. So you can't really see to much. His hair is growing out really nice now and I am waiting on more. So now that I have figured that one out I can update later. Emms

He is a cutie! Now you have to wait till he is about 6 months to know if he will be show material - so much can go wrong until then. How did his parents look? I bought KeeKee when she was young - taking a risk on her and hoping for the best, because her parents were really nice and I knew she had good lines behind her. Well, she is 6 months now and only 3.5 pounds - too small to show. I am still keeping my fingers crossed and hoping she will add on a pound before she finishes growing. Here is her picture after bath today. T.

My Diesel looks A LOT like your baby. Of couse his hair ins't nearly as long yet. But the coloring is pretty much the same. I saw his mom and dad but like you I also took a chance. His dad had a very short haircut and his moms hair had gotten very thin after having the babies. I saw pictures of her before she had them and her coat was much nicer. So far Diesel's coat is nice and soft and for the most part thick. Not sure if that is good or bad tho.The mom and dad also have champions in their bloodlines so I am hoping for the best. Even if my baby isn't show quality he is still my pride n joy. I fell hard for this little thing. By the way your little girl is just adorable! Emms

Thanks! As she grows her softer coat is silker now, especially around her face and front half of her. But what a body she has! She can self stack and nails it each time. I just hope she grows. I have a male and another female I will be showing too. They are just 7-8 months. The judge at our last show really liked my male the best, but I love them all. My son has gotten into this showing and now it is like a family thing, which I love. T.
