Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | Stacking How do you train you puppy/show dogs to stack for the show ring? If you use bait what do you find works best? At what age do you start stacking or teaching them to stack? Any other advice or tips would be appreciated...hehe

Training starts very young. As a wee pup you can start to teach your dog to stack on your lap. Putting front paws on one leg, and rear paws on back leg. Make it enjoyable for the pup. Petting, treats when they stand still. Use some word like stand or stack to associate with this position. Gradually increase the duration. Use different surfaces, a grooming table, or the kitchen table. Begin to train outdoors to, maybe first on your deck, or front porch. Introduce the leash to the young pup. Begin early to hold your dogs head, to get use to head control. Teach the pup to focus on you. You can every time your pup looks at you give a treat. Keep training sessions very short 1-2 minutes for very young dog, as they mature increase to 5 minutes. Just a couple of ideas

Yes, Kirsten's video is great. Worth getting! Here are a couple of shots with my pup 4 and 5 weeks old. I start young! Or at least try to and do not spend much time with each pup, just real short. You do not want it to be a bad experience. Handling class is great when they get older and can go out - classes usually let them attend 5-6 months of age. | |

| Thanks! They get so cute as they get older. Love that puff of hair better. But yes, just practice a little at a time and they will get there. Then you have with the girls - teenageitis and all of a sudden after months of doing so well, they refuse to either walk on the lead or mostly decide they hate the table. All hormone realated, but luckily it passes. You just have to stick with it. |

...::: Welcome to Yorky Club - Shopping - Detail :::... And, it does look like you've got Ting Ting's legs too far apart. Her front legs should be up under her, not stretched out in front of her.....she's adorable, btw!
