| And another showing question..... Would anyone be willing to share at least the different products they use to groom their yorkie for show? For example, would you first use a clarifying shampoo then a regular shampoo then conditioner and there are anti static sprays and hairsprays and the list goes on and on. So I'm just wondering how much of that is really needed. If I go to a grooming product site, I'd think I need it all and I could easily spend a $1000 on hair products for my dog! As it is, I already spend three times as much on theirs as I do my own but just wondering what is absolutely necessary...... |

YT 1000 Club Member | Theresa for me. it all depends on what products I use to wrap the coat, and how long I have had it wrapped. I would definitely use a clarifying shampoo first to help get all the excess build up out, then the regular shampoo and conditioner. Alot of what I use depends on how the coat is looking. Sometimes I use Pure paws ultra finishing spray and sometimes I use the shine spray, sometimes I use CC silk spirits. I always use petsilk topknot gel. sometimes I use the volumizing spray from pure paws for the topknot. I also always have a pure boarbristle brush with me as that has helped maintain the shine. I do however take either my pin brush or small comb with me in the ring. Granted I just started showing over a year ago but these are the products I have tried and have worked for me. I know everyone uses different products and has different ways of doing things. I know with Pure Paws and Vellus and Summer Winds they have smaller sizes so you can try the product before buying the bigger bottles. That helped me in choosing the products I use, and I don't have a cupboard full of products I don't use.

| I use coat handlers clarifying shampoo all the time and I use Summerwinds Protect a coat for the oil. I bath once a week and rewrap when needed. I use Vellus anti stat and Vellus satin cream a very small amount rub in my palms and go over coat before showing. I don't use a lot of products. I use any hairspray for the top knot. I have Radar's coat in excellent condition with less products. But there is so much out there and you just have to find what works for your yorkie. Not all products work on every yorkie but so far what I use has worked on all my yorkies. Donna |

You are so right, there are so many products out there. Most of us add on to our arsenal, with each dog. As no set product works on every yorkie. Each coat different is different and reacts differently to different products. Starting with a clarifying shampoo on any coat is best when initiating new products....... I use two different hairsprays for the topknot.....Chris Christensen's when building the topknot and "IT" for the final set......

Like I said I use very little products as I have found it's less damanging to the coat. Donna | |
