| Bait or Squeeker? Prince is still very young and he has been doing better with bait for his training, but I think that the squeeky toy has been working better for him. Any suggestions or opinions in what you use in the ring?

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Generally it depends on which motivates your pup more. I tried using toys but both of mine are food motivated.

| Thanks! I know he will do anything for food but because he is so young and busy he doesnt always do what I would like when I use it, but then again he does like the squeeky too... I guess we'll keep practicing.

| I agree. Use whatever works best for that particular dog. A word of caution with the food...I have a BIG chow-hound and I had to stop using bait as he would only focus on the food. I would always take a little in with me for emergency purposes only but wouldnt take it out unless I had no other choice. Those rabbit fur squeaky toys (rats or flat rats) are great too. Novelty is the key with those. Whenever I pull out the fur rat my boys get that crazy terrier "must-kill-rat" look in their eyes and go nuts It's quite a sight! |

| Ace is a chow hound too. I tried it on the table once and he about knocked over the judge to get to it. It's now a reward when he comes off the table if he was still. Each is so different, you'll find what works for your boy.

| My boy (CH Debonair's Wee Luv Squeakers) got his name from the Squeaker toys. I like to watch their attitudes before naming them. And his name says it all. That boy will tear it up for a Squeaker Toy, and he would shine in the ring for that toy. There was a few times that someone would stand outside the ring and squeak a toy working with their dog, that can be distracting and they should not be doing that outside of the ring when dogs are showing. I hate when they do that. But that's part of being at a dog show. Most of mine are toy motivated!

| I agree with everyone, do what works best for your boy. But, keep in mind there are a couple of judges out there that won't allow either in the ring.
