Thanks, Tami. A friend also recommended clicker training to me but every time I thought we made a stridde, we went back two steps so I just stopped. Good luck to you and Ace!!!!!

Here's what Ace looks like when he's clean.

Wish I knew another secret to help you. I'm hoping it will work on Lizzie. Maybe Cash will grow into his happy tail. I've been told it's all about confidence.

Here is Sasha on 10-06-09. I gave her a bath to get ready for tonight's class. I hope to get someone to get pictures of her and the others at the class for confirmation/handling. Her first show should be in January if all goes well. This would be my first show also. I need just as much or more training than she does. lol.

Default This works for getting tails up

We forget our dogs need reassurance when they are someplace strange, especially at a show. This technique works best if you start when they are puppies. Play with your puppies using your hands to pat them, and get them to play back. Make it fun! Then, when you begin training them to stack, push their tail up and pat their back a couple of times and say "tail"! Eventually your dog will be conditioned to put their tail up any time you pat their back. Do this with the dog on your lap when you watch TV, or if they are standing on the floor and not looking particularly happy, pat their back a couple of times and watch what happens!

When you get to the show, play a little with your dog before grooming, using this patting technique. When I'm in the ring, as soon as I move the dog from the table, I will reach down and pat the dog's back a couple of times before we take off. I talk to the dog when we are moving in a hapy voice. If the dog loses the tail on the down and back, stop and pat the dog until the tail comes back up, saying "tail". You may not win that day, but in the future, the dog will understand what you want and you will get that tail up. Good luck!

LOL I use the term Sparkle .. I have had some odd looks but those tails are up and I also tell my dogs to stomp it out when I need them to free stack So far so good LOL

Tina, she is beautiful. How old is she? Will this be her first time out or was she show as a puppy?

Here are a couple pictures of my new boy. The first was his first show (he won his 6-9 mo. class, but no points). The second is from the Dublin Specialty, where he won his 6-9 class in the Sweeps.

Beautiful puppies everyone. Good luck!

She is almost three. This will be her first shows, since I did not have her out when she was younger. I had Gigi, Prize, Easy to get out first and finish. Now they are champions. You know with money - you have to space them out or it cost too much. In 3.5 years after returning to showing and getting them finished (our three) in this time, not so bad. :-) We are getting there. Now it is her turn. I am hoping she can finish fast and maybe Special her. It would be nice. Then I have two more waiting in the wings growing, and will be their turn afterwards.
We just got a motorhome, so now we can stay at the shows. I think it will be a lot more fun and easier. It even has a generator. It is 28 feet, so plenty of room for my hubby, myself, and my yorkies to travel in.
