I thought I would make up for not posting a picture of rainbow with all of her curls afetr taking out her wraps. So here is a picture of Rainbow all wrapped and another in her wrapping jacket. Hoping I did her wraps right.

It is to protect her coat from breakage while getting her ready to show.

That's alot of wraps. Try 3 or 4 down each side and one in front and rear. The legs should have 1 wrap each as needed. Here's Connor with 3 on each side.

OK.. so I am learning.. lol.. everyone says something different.. someone told me I didnt do enough.. then I found one website that said to part off small sections.. She sure doesn't like this many so I may take them out again tomorrow and just do a few. She has SO MUCH HAIR!

I know all about learning! I've tryed so many different things that people have suggested for Connor. I've wrapped him with plastic wraps, bad idea broke the hair. I braided it, bad idea made him into the incredible matt monster and made me cry. I wrapped it in papers with and without oil, still made matts and broke hair. I put him in light oil and banded him, broke hair. I put him in heavy oil and banded him, broke hair and gave him dandruff. I put him in heavy oil and left his hair down, no matts but he lost about 1/2 inch of coat at the bottom in the middle. Now he is in heavy oil and only has 2 bands holding all of the hair very loosely up on his back, so far no matts and I'm not noticing much breakage. For Connor it has to be up off of the floor but the less bands the better as they rub and break his hair. My first show dog had to have the most difficult coat of course. After this the rest will seem like a breeze, right? Good luck in the never ending search for the best way to keep your gal in show coat!

Bless your heart! There is so many different ways (and products) to care for a show coat. Every dog is different and you have to use trial and error to find out what works best for you and your dog.

I have totally given up on wraps. I bathe every 3 days; spray Pure Paws Ultra Light Oil on a damp coat and blow dry. Life is much easier and their coat looks great.

Now, if I can just find an easy way to care for the Maltese.

What kind of oil is considered a "heavy oil"? I have been using Summerwinds Protect-a-coat. Someone also recommended Avon Skin so soft.

Yes it is confusing.. I took the wraps out because even though she would go play with the other dogs, she then decided to hide upstairs for the last two days. So now I have bathed her yet again and used the Summerwinds Protect a coat and now bands, no wraps. Her coat is to the floor in the back already. I think I may just band the hair on her flanks and her muzzle.
