Showing your own dog is aa huge part of the fun. I for one, won't put my dogs with a handler. One, I don't have that kind of money, two, I am way too attached to my dogs to let them go off somewhere and be kept in a crate. Three, I am just now starting and at this point for me it is just a fun thing to do.

i mean i would love to show my own dogs but I don't have the experiences..or know where to start really...hehe...

i am still do all the researching and learning i can...hopefully i can find someone that would be able to tell me if MeiLing is show potential...thanks!

Oh I love to show my own dogs and I use to say the same thing about sending out with a handler but since I"m wanting a top winning yorkie unfortunately he has to be out with a handler, I'm not well known in that arena. I do, however, show my own dogs to their championship and finished Radar by myself and Harvey. I did have a handler get majors on Tucker and a handler finished Cammie but that was ringside handling and they didn't go with them. I will always try and show my dogs in the classes for their championship but with Radar I am trying to rank him with the top yorkies. He's the love of my life and I do miss him terribly, it's not easy

but he's doing really well out with Tonia

I remember that feeling, it all started for me when I was able to find a confirmation class. And of course I had gotten Squeakers and needed to learn so many things. I didn't know where to start and it all started to fall in place when I found our confirmation class, and i was fortunate enough that it was one of my great friends from high school who was doing these classes.

How old is your MeiLing?
What area are you in? I am sure we can find you a show breeder or a handler of Yorkies in your area that can help you out.

MeiLing is 13 weeks old. I am enrolling her in the handling class at the end of April. I am from Wichita, KS and don't know any show/breeder or handler from her. hehe

I have no clue where Wichita is in distance to Topeka?
How far are you from Topeka? I have a friend that shows Maltese and also another friend that is an old time Yorkie breeder who also now shows Maltese that are in the Topeka area.

Oh you just can't imagine how hard it is for me to have Radar away from home. I actually still tear when I think about it

I do, however, get to see him when we are at the same shows so that makes it easier.

Radar is my yorkie who is a finished champion which I finished him myself to his championship. He is now what we call a special shown in the breed ring. The handler is a well known handler and I'm not so that's why he's with her. We live in the same state and do go to some of the same shows like this weekend so I'll get to see him. He'll be out with her for the year. I have a little female I'm showing now so I have something to show for the time being

It's a complicated explantion but once you learn it's not hard. But it is hard having Radar not home!

They travel to shows so maybe their will be a show close by you can meet in person. Of course your girl is young so they would need to evaluate her at closer to 6 months to get a better evaluation of her.
