Well you aren't suppose to it's against AKC rules but it's done all the time. Just don't have them dressed up and walk in like you know what you are doing....here's a hint...find out where the exhibitors come in and out and walk in with them

I don't recommend bringing them to shows until they have had all their vaccinations and are close to 6 months old. Also, keep in mind that at shows sometimes doggy viruses go around and you could be exposing them unnecessarily to them. You have to be very careful carrying them around at shows also because I have had big dogs walk by and try to take a bite out of a dog I was holding.

hmm...sounds a bit scary...hehe...i may just bring MeiLing and hopefully i will be able to talk to a yorkie show/breeder

Wow..i didn't get to attend any shows. i underestimated the healing time for my surgery. I am now gets getting around. But from what I have heard, MeiLing's sire won his champion title this past weekend at the Valley Center Show.

Way to go Mickey!!!

thank you...i was hoping i would be able to to attend but my health comes first and hopefully there i will be able to attend some future shows...hehe...

I suggest to everyone getting started to go to UKC shows to train you dog and learn to show. It moves a little slower and exhibitors have more time to help you. When you girl is ready to start winning in the AKC you both will have ring experience.

We picked up a nasty respitory infection a few weeks ago at a show. Leave your babies at home.

wow that is bad....yeah after someone advice me to leave them at home unless they are up to date with all their shots...so i wasn't going to bring them with me but i ended up not being able to go either...boo-hoo...maybe next time...

i have enrolled MeiLing in handling class for the last thursday of this month for a start...hehe

Illnesses is one of the draw backs to showing...there is a virus called.."dog show crud"...a breeder recently lost one of her champions to it...take a spare pair of shoes and always change before getting in the car...wash your hands when you come home and change your clothes before touching your dogs...I always left my carrier outside and cleaned it before coming inside...I have only had one bad bout of a virus run through my Yorkies after a show, 8 of about 14 were quite ill.....unfortunately when you have dogs at home it can be a real mess of upset bowels and stomach..and even worse.

thanks for the advice...i would have never thought...so are the virus bought in by other show dogs or audiences that bring their dogs?
