| Golden Gate Kennel Club Dog Show I took my niece to the dog show today, right outside of San Francisco. I was excited to see that we had made it just in time to see the yorkies being shown. I was so disappointed to see that there was only one yorkie! Does anyone know why there were so few? |

| show It was a small entry..and some were absent...happens often that all to do show up. Why an entry is small has a number of reasons..it can be there are few Yorkie people in the area or they did not care for the judges record..perhaps the entries needed a major and saw there was not enough enteries and did not bother to attend, saving, time and gas..etc |

| You must have went on Sunday lol. We were entered both days but only went on Saturday. I discovered only after mailing in my entry that the Yorkie people usually bypass the show because it is such a tolling day on both the dogs and handlers. Since it is a benched show, exhibitors are contracted to stay by their benches during certain hours. On Saturday those hours were 10am-5:30pm. Around 2pm on Saturday my dog was done...you could just see it on his face. In addition to the fatigue, I noticed it was REALLY humid in the hall where we were benched...if any of you have had to deal with coat this is a nightmare--especially for someone like me who does not yet have all of the tricks down. Dont be disappointed. If you are in the Bay Area you have plenty more shows you can go to. On 2/2-2/3 there is the dog show in Fresno and on 2/15-218 there is a 4 day show at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. =) |

Great! Thanks for the response. I did go Sunday. I think I might go to the Santa Clara show. My niece is 4 and she was SO disappointed she didn't get to pet a Yorkie. I took her to the Silkies and she got to pet one. That seemed to satisfy her!

With that said, there may not be the quantity of Yorkies you are hoping for at the San Jose dog shows. There are all the specialties in New York, not to mention Westminster going on the week before the San Jose dog show. Last year there were several people entered who were unable to make the San jose show because they were snowed in the airport in NY for several days trying to fly back. As we get closer, PM me a reminder and I can send you the judging program. These dog shows arent benched like the Golden Gate one was so people usually come and go depending on when they are showing. You are going to want to catch them in the act
