I purchased a puppy in October, owner said she would send for the papers, as of yet NO papers, now she won't answer or return calls. This was an $800 AKC dog with owner having both parents who were AKC. I do have receipt where owner is supposed to supply papers for me to register the dog. Where do I start with a complaint to AKC as i do not have litter number etc? I love the puppy and do not wish to return her for a refund, but i do want my AKC registration. Any advice?

you might want to post this in the General Discussion forum. You will probably get more responses as this is the show forum. Good luck on getting your papers. i would be upset, too.

Did you have a contract? I don't send AKC papers until I receive a spay/neuter letter from the new puppy owners vet. Of course that is stated up front before the puppy leaves my home.

No I didn't have a contract, just a signed receipt that i paid $800 for a Yorkie puppy which includes AKC paperwork. The owner said yes i could breed the dog, however the puppies i produce in future could not be breed. I don't have a contract that states this. I want to breed my puppy once when she is 2 years old, then have her spade. My other Yorkie I had spade before her first heat. I still have not recieved a call back and i have left 3 messages this week, I have had the puppy since Oct 14th and she was supposed to send paperwork out then to AKC. Either way I am not returning the puppy, she is here to stay. I did want to check out a few local dog shows, and breed her once.

If she had not sent out the litter registration to AKC until the 14th of October it is possible she has not received the papers back from them yet. That is of course no excuse for not answering your phone calls or emails. The breeder told you that she would sell the puppy on FULL AKC registration so that you could breed her? But told you that the puppies you had could not be registered or bred? Did you actually discuss breeding the dog with her prior to purchasing it? I guess I do not quite understand what the agreement was as to your breeding the dog. Sorry about the situation, I am sure you love her as you state though and could never give her back. Ok, so eveidently you can give out info on bad breeders. It has been 3 months, no paperwork. She will not return calls or messages. I have contacted AKC twice and she has never registered the litter, and no they say i cannot file a complaint, even though i have signed reciepts that i paid $800 for a female AKC registered puppy. My only option is to take her to small claims court. The bad breeder with empty promises is:

Sorry you were not given the papers. I just got Dixie on Friday and the Breeder gave me the papers to file with AKC.

Finally recieved paperwork in February. She listed date of possesion wrong/changed. She gave limited registration when full/unlimited was promised. Moral of story Do Not believe what people say or promise, GET IT IN WRITING!!! I love my baby and she is now AKC registered.
