| *new* From: "Deborah Betancourt" DBETANCO@ANI.LACITY.ORG (@ANI.LACITY.ORG) Date: Fri, 12 May 2006 09:57:18 -0700 Little Yorkie has been abused! North Central Shelter, CA. ID# A793301 - This little Yorkie angel came in to the shelter on 05-10-06. She was caught running the brutal streets in Los Angeles. She was running the streets with a rubber band around her neck inbedded! Not only did she have a rubber band tighten around her neck which had already been burried into her neck but she also had another rubber band tighten into her little front right leg! This rubber band had cut her circulation on her foot and had blown up like a balloon! When she was brought into the shelter, she was immediately transferred to private Veterinarian where they removed both rubber bands. The rubber band around her neck had already gotten infected but was successfully removed, disinfected and sutured just beautifully. The rubber band around her little front leg, was removed and her circulation was able to run again with no problem. Now the little leg went back to it's normal size, and now it just looks purple but will be fine, she's even walking on it! I went to pick her up at the private Vet and she was just lying there sooo depressed. I didn't want to put a leash over her neck because of her neck injury (I don't think she will ever like anything around her neck). So I pick her up with a blanket, like a baby. They have shaved her hair because her hair was matted but still looks cute! She cuddled with me in my arms just like a baby. I held her for a couple of minutes because it looked as if she didn't want me to let her go. After knowing what happened to her, I had a huge knott in my throat while holding her tight in my arms..........she doesn't deserve this? People are so evil and can't imagine what happened? Why would anyone hurt a little angel like this? She's a sweatheart! I brought her back to the shelter and I set up a special cage for her. I put a comfy blanket that had just came out of the dryer, very warm. I put some can food and water. She ate real good and went into her blanket. She dug herself inside the blanket and didn't come out the rest of the day. I kept on checking on her and she didn't come out. I wanted to take a picture of her but didn't want to bother her since I thought she needed all the rest she can get. This morning I checked on her and she was still inside her blanket! I uncovered her to see if she was OK, she looked up at me with sleepy eyes, so I just gave her a kiss on her forhead and covered her back up. She definitely needs to be rescued. I want the best for her, she deserves the best after what she has been through. Please cross post and send this e-mail to everyone you know, she needs to be heard. She is not spayed, about 3yrs, brn & blk, about 6-7lbs, and of course super sweet. She will be available for adoption on Sunday 05-14-06. Please come rescue her. I will not be here Sat Sun or Mon but will hope for some good news on Tuesday am. Thank you all for caring :-) Debbie Betancourt New Hope Coordinator 3201 Lacy Street Los Angeles, CA 90031 Tel. 213-485-8855 Fax (213)847-0555 dbetanco@ani.lacity.org (ani.lacity.org) |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Oh man - that was sad ...She deserves to be in a home where she'll spend the rest of her days loved and cherished....who could put a rubber band around the neck of any animal ? She's very lucky to be alive that poor baby. The woman who wrote that email sounds like a true angel - I hope they find a home for her quickly and thank you for posting that...maybe someone in CA will read this and get her ? |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | If I lived in California I'd go get her. I hope we hear she was adopted to a great home. She deserves to be trated like royalty the rest of her life. It is so scary that there are so many of these horror stories out there.

| I would love to have her.Im not to far from LA. Is this at a rescue place or a shelter? If it is at a rescue I wouldn't try.sorry.Alot of the rescue are difficult to work with. Also if she was just found on the 10th how can they be adopting her out 4 days later. Last edited by Shadow; 05-12-2006 at 07:46 PM. |

| I'm not sure if this is a rescue or not. I was cross-posting hoping someone was close and could check this out. That little girl deserves a great home... so sad. |

| how sad. i hope some loving family takes her. i just had an unfortunate and difficult time with a rescue organization as others have mentioned, too. i understand they want great homes for the dogs, but they certainly don't have to treat people like criminals and be so rude. it's sad cause one little fur baby could have had a terrific home with me and now won't cause of her foster mom. i was even willing to drive over 1500 miles to pick her up. just my 2 cents... omega |
