| Searching for a months to 3 year old, 5 lbs male yorkie to adopt I am searching for a months to 3 year old, 5lbs male yorkie that may need a home. He would be the companion to a female 3 year old, 5 lbs yorkie named Nala who is already spayed and vaccinated. I live in Puerto Rico and I am willing to fly to meet the pup, pay the adoption fees and pick him up. Is there anyone who accepts yorkie parents from Puerto Rico? Whatever background information that is needed from me and my family, as well as if a home visit is needed, I am more than willing to oblige. |

| You outlined your preference for age and sex and breed of dog....how much are you wanting to spend for your pup? That information may help someone that has a pup or knows of a pup, to rehome..... |

| I am willingnto pay the adoption fees that are needed, I just don't want to buy a yorkie and fall into the puppy mill trap again because I got Nala in a pet shop 3 years ago when I didn't even know what puppy mills were and now that I know, I am not doing that again. The age is because I want him to grow with her and be her companion. Also I know yorkies have an attitude and I don't want him to attack her in anyway. About the weight is because Nala is really small and she is afraid to play with dogs that are bigger than her. She ia only 11 inches and she needs a companion just as small as her so she won't feel intimidated. She is spayed, so I am not interested in breeding at all, just someone she can play with. |

I suggest you go to a reputable breeder and pay for a dog from such a breeder. Dont buy a dog from a puppy mill or a pet store, go to a reputable breeder! That is certainly NOT falling into a "puppy mill trap" just because you actually pay a reputable breeder for a puppy. You must find your breeder first, then when you purchase your puppy, you know what you are getting and you will have someone that cares as much for that baby as you do, if not more! Just because you pay for a puppy, that is NOT what makes the person you are buying the puppy from, a puppy mill! Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 03-12-2016 at 07:02 PM.

My other problem is that I have found male yorkies with the characteristics I am looking for in rescues and shelters in the US, but since I live in Puerto Rico they are rejecting my applications even though I am willing to fly over and pick up the puppy. It has been really discouraging.

| There are shelters and rescues in Puerto Rico, but they have no yorkies available for adoption. They have medium and large dogs, and those are the dogs Nala is afraid of. |
