| Rehoming Special Needs Yorkie This is so hard for me to even consider but due to health and financial reasons I am no longer able to give my special needs little girl the care that she needs. The last couple months Ive had a lot of issues with my own health and many hospital bills. My little girl is a special needs yorkie that needs a full time stay at home mommy that can keep her healthy. She has health issues herself and its been a struggle. Shes three years old and has had several cases of bloody diarrhea and vomiting. We've run many tests and had exploratory surgery and have not been able to find the cause. Over the years Ive noticed that certain things trigger her upset belly. Stress and eating anything other then her food. Which has been very hard to prevent since shes puppy pad trained and we cant break her of eating her own poop. She gets extremely sick when she eats her own poop so I pretty much stay with her full time to prevent it. Because of that shes now developing separation anxiety which is making the whole stress trigger worse. Its a daily struggle to keep her belly from getting upset. I have her long term on Cerenia and Tylan powder which has helped a lot! She also developed a bladder stone that we've been trying to dissolve with vitamin c and cranberry powder. Its doing the trick the stone is slowly dissolving but its taking several months. My little girl reacted horribly to the medicine to dissolve them and she cant tolerate the ingredients in the food that dissolves them. Shes a love bug! She just wants to sit on your lap and cuddle. She does get very playful and runs around with her toys. She also loves playing hide and seek. I catch her hiding behind the couch and then she jumps out and tries to scare you. Its the cutest. Shes always been the only dog so I don't know how she would do with other dogs. I know she doesn't like hyper dogs. She did well with my grandpas older dog. His dog moves very slow and is not very active. She would love to be in a nice quit house that has her mommy there full time. This breaks my heart to have to consider this and Im terrified I will not be able to find her a good home. Ive been trying so hard to make it work but I don't think I can make it work for much longer. I really don't want her in a foster home because of her anxiety. I would like to keep her until the right home can be found for her. Please email me if you know of anyone that may be the right fit for her. I am in the Cincinnati area. Thank you so much for listening to my story. |

YT 2000 Club Member | Oh, my! She sounds a lot like my Tatiana, who also get stressed and has stress Colitis. Tatiana will eat her poop, if I don't watch her! She is not on any special food but has a sensitive tummy and it took forever to adjust her to her new food which is grain/potato free because of skin issues. I am stay at home grandma, so Tatiana anxiety is ok as long as she doesn't get let too often! I am so sorry that you feel the need to rehome her! I wish you the best and your little Daisy! She is adorable and looks so frail. I wish I was closer to help you out!

| Yeah they sound a lot a like! Daisys on a grain free potato free limited ingredient food as well. Shes about three pounds. Shes very tiny. Right now her hair is longer. Not sure if I have any photos on here of her with longer hair. I just turned thirty and pretty much have given up everything to stay home with her to help her stay healthy. I feel horrible that I am having health issues now and have to consider rehoming her. Its been a very hard decision. |

| I can imagine how difficult this is for you....if I did not have all these babies, I would "foster" her for you until you felt you were in a position to take your baby back, if that time came. She needs a less stressful environment than she would be in here. I am praying for you and your baby.....the decision to give her up, in order for her to continue to get the care she needs, care that your own life circumstance has dictated your can not devote exclusively to her, shows where your devotion lies. God bless you for that...... |

| Thank you so much for the kind words. I have not stopped crying since Ive made this decision. I wish I could continue to care for her. I love her with all my heart and want nothing but the best for her. As I type this shes running around playing with her toys. It makes me so happy to see her enjoying life. |

| Awww...I am sorry to hear you have to rehome her. My older pup has had a lot of gastrointestinal problems as well so I can totally relate. It sounds like Daisy would be perfect for someone who is retired, financially comfortable and in need of a full time companion to dote on. Have you tried contacting rescues to see if they would work with you. Perhaps because of her special circumstances, they would let her stay with you until they could find the perfect home for her and hopefully they'd let you be involved in the process of finding her a perfect home. You could also try other social networking sites, like FB to get the word out. I could see Daisy loving life with some retired couple down in the Florida sunshine. I am not sure what your health issues are, but do you foresee them as an ongoing problem or could you perhaps take her back if someone was willing to foster her temporarily while you focus on getting yourself better?!? Just trying to think of another alternative so you could keep your pup... |

| theporkieyorkie- what you have described would be the perfect home. With her anxiety the way it is I think it would have to be a local family. She does not do well with car rides. I contacted one rescue and they told me that it would be very hard for them to find her a home because of her health issues. And I haven't had the courage to call any other rescues. I think it just makes the whole thing to real for me. It would break my heart seeing her listed for adoption. I really want to do whats best for her and Im not sure when I would be healthy enough and financial able to take her back. I also wouldn't want to move her around that much. I think it will make her issues worse. If I could find one home that could keep her forever I think it would be the best thing for Daisy. |

| Both my mother and my grandparents work full time jobs. They both travel frequently as well. All of my friends have young children. Its hard for me to even find a babysitter when I need to go to my doctor appointments. Im trying my hardest to make it work if I cant find a home for her. Im just really worried her anxiety and stomach issues will get worse the more I have to leave her and less attention I can give her. |

| Please send an email to yorkiehavenrescue@yahoo.com if you want information about finding a good home for her. Perhaps our membership coordinator can assist you...it really does not sound like you want to rehome her....and even if you do, we can help you with some ideas.
