| Yorkie/Schnauzer mix in Huntsville, Alabama This young dog was listed this weekend in our local newspaper as available at the local dog pound. I'm really worried about him because he has fear agression issues. I think a rescue foster home would be his best shot at a good life. I work a very demanding job which is why I've never volunteered to foster. This boy definately sounds like he needs someone with the time to really work with him. Does anyone know of a rescue that is active in Alabama that might take this boy? I'm willing to go pull him and do whatever is needed to get him to a good place. This is a kill shelter but it does sound like they aren't giving up and would like to find him a home. I'm just worried that someone will get him that doesn't realize what they are getting into. | I also live in Alabama. Where are you located? This will take a special placement for this little guy.

| I'm way up north in Huntsville. I agree and apparently the shelter realizes it. It almost sounds like he's in a foster home now. I know I don't have the available time to give this guy what he needs, but I wish I could do something to help him. The thing is that this is our city dog pound. It is definitely a kill shelter, but they sound like they really want to give this baby a chance. I wish I knew what to do.

| I just sent them this email. Hi Karen, My name is Karen. I would like to inquire about Freddy. I can’t tell from the Petfinder page if he’s been adopted or not. I volunteer as a trainer with Kind Hearts Behavior Center and I currently own two Yorkies and support Yorkie rescue. Quite simply, I love the breed (including Yorkie mixes). I have a demanding full time job and I understand and accept that I don’t have the time that this little guy needs, but I am willing to work to find an appropriate rescue group to take him and foster him and give him rehabilitation and socialization. I wanted to check with you to see if that would even be a possibility from your end. If it is something that you would consider I will pursue it. I would be willing to pay his adoption fee and provide transport. I really just want this little guy to have the best chance at a happy life. I would provide you with all information on the rescue I found so that you could make an informed decision as to whether this was appropriate for him. Please let me know. In any case, I care about Freddy. Is there anything I can do to help? Thanks, Karen

| I just got the nicest email back from the director of Animal Services. She said that they did find a great home for Freddy yesterday but that she would love to work with me to help assess and possibly foster. I know I don't have the time to foster (oh how I wish I did) but I feel really good that they do care about these pups and finding them the right home. It's honestly not what I expected from the dog pound. She is also open to me helping find a rescue and told me that she will let me know when they get any Yorkies or Yorkie mixes. You don't know how much I would like to do that and possibly work with YHR to start a presence in Alabama. Darn this 10 hour a day job I have!!!! Unfortunately we still have to eat and provide for the pups I have.
