| Question re Posting to Rescue Forum I was wondering if it is allowed to post the petfinder link to yorkies up for adoption through rescue groups? My dd fosters for a yorkie rescue group and I would love to be able to help spread the word on her fosters, but wanted to have the rules clarified first. Plus, I don't understand the $300 adoption fee limit on posting a rescue especially if it is a legitimate rescue organization. We all know how strapped the rescue organizations are and if a foster adoption fee is over $400 why does that lessen the chance of getting the word out on them when that $400 could go to helping the next little guy who really has medical issues and whose adoption fee might be $100. I would think we should be doing everything we can to find these little guys there furever homes. |

| from the rules: If fees are OVER $300, do not post the ad or link to another site in this forum. NO EXCEPTIONS (unless approved by a moderator or admin in advance). So, unless you can get moderator approval you can't post the link to Petfinder. I don't think I have seen a rescue group with adoption fees over $300.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Unfortunately one of the fastest growing scams is brokers who pose as rescues, they've learned they can make more money selling rescues than they can selling puppies, and they don't have to do anything if the dog is deemed sick! A legitimate rescue always spays and neuters before adopting, and most rescues are just trying to recover the cost for this. Some rescues do charge more than $300.00 to help recoup the cost for other dogs who need much more health care, but those dogs can't be listed here. If a dog is listed here, it's because it really needs a home, and no one is profiting from it.

| I read the $300 rule that's why I was asking for clarification as I didn't want to break the rules by posting a link. And, I'm new here and didn't want to step on anyone's toes. I also know of several very legitimate rescues (some yorkie rescues and some not) who do ask $300 and a little more for some of their rescues - not all but some. I just thought with the economy that that amount might be raised in the rules to benefit the legitimate rescue groups and the pups in need. The dogs I wanted to post really do need homes and no one would be profiting from it except for the dogs who would be able to take their place in the foster home. So, if the adoption fee is less than $300 can I post the link in the rescue forum? There's an adorable senior whom I would love to share with everyone and hopefully find him the perfect home. And, the one thing that really has me confused is if the adoption fee for a rescue is $300 or more they can't be posted, but this forum allows the sale of yorkies - is there a dollar limit on that or does the $300 limit apply there, also. Are the breeders who sell here screened to make sure they are reputable and breeding to better the breed? If there's that big a concern that the rescue group is a legitimate group and not brokers out to make a buck wouldn't the same hold true for those out and out selling yorkies? (I am definitely not against reputable breeders - I'm close friends with several show breeders of another toy breed - I'm just not used to them using a forum to sell their dogs - it's all about the rescues.) Not trying to ruffle any feathers, just trying to understand and see if this forum is a good fit for me. Linda |

YHR does not post fosters on YT. They are on the YHR website and also on Petfinder, Petharbor and Adopt A Pet. Anyone thinking they are helping a rescue needs to contact the rescue first before posting pups on other sites. I have seen people post rescues on Craig's List for rescues that don't want their pups on there.

| There are posts about some rescues and certainly it is good to post links! It is just the policy of YT that the fee cannot be over $300. That eliminates a lot of rescue group pups. But..honestly, we tell people all of the time how to find a yorkie....mainly using Petfinder and their zip code. Often we post pups that are in shelters hoping that someone will save them. The numbers of yorkies being euthanized is very sad here in TX...and actually I believe in LA as well. I was just saying that some rescue groups would not want their pups posted anywhere that was not pre-approved. I know that YT has had raffles in the past for certain rescue groups. They certainly are not unfriendly to rescue groups! Welcome to yt! I think you will see that lots of wonderful people on this forum do support rescue.
