Donating YT 30K Club Member | Another Puppy mill closing!! The shelter I volunteer at sent this out about a Missouri PM closing and auctioning off all there dogs. I talked to the shelter manager and since we are no longer taking in any animals due to limited funds they are trying to get 5-6 of them but want fosters for them immediately. I donated some funds and said I would foster one but I thought if anyone was near here maybe they could get the Yorkies out. I hope I can figure out how to get the link here. Auction 1

Senior Yorkie Talker | I would like to offer any help I might be able to provide. I currently have room to foster one or two, sadly not enough funds this time of year to just buy them all out of that place! Thank you for letting us know about this.

| I'm willing to donate $$ to any rescue that is going to pull some of the dogs from the auction. PM me and let me know. I live in NJ so I'm of no help with foster or attending. Elaine |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Warning Auction Video showed up in link Thanks I have attached the email from the shelter where they describe what they are going to do. Dana is the shelter manager and the one I spoke with and donated to and the one who is going down to the auction Saturday. Hi All, As most of you know, millions of dogs and puppies suffer in puppy mills throughout the country, but mostly here in the Midwest. Several of us have been involved in actively protesting pet stores that sell puppies because these are ALWAYS from mills. (And of course, many of them end up at Save-A-Pet) Auctions take place every weekend where breeding dogs are put on the auction block to sell to other millers. There is also a "cull" section of dogs who are not of use to the millers anymore for breeding. They usually have a $5-10 pricetag on them because they are going to be killed anyways, so they just try to make some last minute money on them. Here is video of a typical auction: (Please watch it!) We just got word that a mill is shutting down (hooray!) and the dogs all need to be placed. We want to prevent them from being killed or sold to other millers. Several rescue groups are involved to try to save them. As you will see from the list, they are all small breed dogs. Since our kennel is full and funds tight, the only way we can help is to have people volunteer to either sponsor or foster one of these little guys until they are ready for adoption. Anyone who has worked with a puppy mill dog can tell you what a rewarding experience it is. This quote is from a group who has worked with many of these dogs: "We have fostered several puppy mill dogs that came straight from the mills. I can help you get started and give you some very important information. It is one of the most amazing things to see these dogs come out of their shells, with a bit of patience, food, a warm bed and decent vet care these dogs can survive and thrive! They usually get along very well with other dogs, since that is all they have known, and they learn within a few weeks that men and women can be a dog's best friend." We also think our involvement would be a great tool to educate the public about puppy mills and pet stores. The media has taken an interest in our protests and this would be a very concrete way of showing the suffering behind the cute puppies in the window and the terrible contribution these pet stores and puppy mills make to the overpopulation problem. So please, if you have termporary room for a little dog or can help financially to sponsor one, let me know immediately. We have to know how many we can save ASAP so please get back to me or Dana by Thursday morning. Even if we can just save a couple, it's still a couple of lives who suffered terribly every day and deserve to be shown what being a dog should really be about. Here is the list of dogs needing to be rescued: Auction 1 Thanks so much, Karen Rappaport rappaportk@yahoo.com 847-338-7833

| If you call Karen she can give anyone interested in donating money the telephone number of the person at the shelter. They will take a credit card over the phone or they have pay pal. CC is better because the fee is not as high for them. I know many of you like to donate at Christmas and thought this may be a worthy cause. I called her a bit ago and made a monetary donation. The more $$ they get the more dogs they can rescue. The auction goes off tomorrow. Also you can pm me and I will give you her number (it's on my other computer) but I won't be in until around 11:30 tonight. I'm heading out to work. Elaine |

| Oh my goodness. That video was very disturbing. It is so sad that is how these dogs are treated. I wish I was close enough to foster a baby!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | She is a doll. She is 4 months old and weighs 3. 1/2 lbs. She is very smart. She has Giardia so we are treating that and she goes in for spaying on Thursday and 3 days later she will be available for adoption. It will be so hard to see her go, but I am hopeful she will find a great home.

| Please, please, please don't get me wrong... I think saving these babies is fabulous and I can't say enough to support this. However, do you realize these auctions are held at least once a month or more often with a kennel going out of business or PM's just wanting to move "stock" around?? Our rescue has not only been pulling Yorkies (and other breeds occasionally) from shelters and accepting owner surrenders for a year and a half now, we have been pulling them from auctions as well. The thing that amazes me, is that our organization was BASHED not too long ago on this site for doing exactly what was done here. I can only say I am thrilled you have gotten the support you have and I am hoping this is a turn in opinions and more are willing to support this. I am glad each of the babies you rescued will now have a wonderful Christmas and many more wonderful days to come!!
