| Rescue in British Columbia This is not my dog Sara is a 3-4 year old spayed female Yorkshire Terrier mix who weighs about six pounds. She came into our care after her guardians were taken away by ambulance and ended up in a seniors’ care facility. She is gradually adjusting to all of the sudden changes in her life and she is settling nicely into her foster home. It seems that Sara was quite “sheltered” in her past life, so she is enjoying all of the new adventures she is experiencing with her foster parents. She is looking for someone who will continue to help build her confidence through encouragement, praise, socialization and involvement with all the normal activities of daily life. She wants to be included in everything you are doing and she would like to find a new home where someone has lots of time to spend with her. She would prefer an adult-only home as she finds too much noise and activity to be a bit overwhelming. Sara enjoys going for moderate walks and she has good leash manners. She rides nicely in the car. She can be a bit protective of her home when new people come to visit, but when she is out walking she enjoys meeting new people. Sara would love to have a securely fenced yard where she can safely spend time enjoying the great outdoors. She doesn’t really know how to play yet, but we think she would like to learn! Sara gets along well with the other little dogs in her foster home, but she would prefer to be an only dog or she could possibly be happy sharing a home with one other dog, as long as she was receiving lots of one-on-one attention. She has a tendency to “fade into the woodwork” and take a backseat when other dogs are around and this isn’t what we want for her. We want her to feel loved and special Sara has had a few “accidents” in her foster home, but we believe she is housetrained and she was just going through an adjustment period. She doesn’t necessarily “ask” to be taken outside, but she manages well when she is taken outside on a regular basis. It may also be a matter of getting to know new routines and learning to read her unique cues. Sara is spayed, tattooed, micro-chipped, up-to-date with her vaccinations and has recently had some dental care completed.
