| Looking for a new Home for Ziggy I'm trying to help a pup who needs a new home. This is the story as I know it. My next door neighbor is "puppysitting" for her sister's yorkie since the sister can no longer care for him. According to my neighbor, Ziggy is a 6 month old "Australian yorkie" male who was purchased from a pet shop. I held him a couple of days ago and he feels like he weighs less than 3 pounds but I'm basing that on my girl's weighing in at about 5 pounds. Definitely less than them. At first I though he was a red leg, but after looking up Australian yorkie, I'm wondering if maybe he's an Australian terrier. His coat is a bit red and not particularly long. It's thin and maybe he's just needing a better diet. He's absolutely precious though and I'd take him in a heartbeat if DH would allow it. I've asked her for a photo or two and she says she'll get it for me when she gets off work this evening. The sister supposedly paid $1000.00for him. Since she got him in a pet shop, he's obviously a puppy mill puppy which is so sad. He's thin and right now being kept in a playpen to protect him from 2 larger dogs in the home. They also have 2 small children and the little girl is allowed to carry him around as much as she wants. Again, I'm basing that on my desire to hold him the other day and the little girl insisting on getting him back. She then put him down and we had to chase him down to keep him from going in the road. They don't have a backyard fence but she said he's using a puppy pad. I don't know anything more about the pup at this point but if anyone is interested, I'd be happy to try to get answers for you. Also, I'm going to be picky about his new home because they're not asking much for him and I don't want him to go to just anyone. I just want to see him go to a good home even if I have to buy him myself and then take my time finding a good home for him. So if anyone knows someone looking for a pup that MIGHT not be a yorkie, please get in touch with me. Thanks so much.

| What is your/the puppy's location? Is she asking for an adoption fee? (I can't adopt right now, but I know those are questions others will ask.) And yes, photos would be great. Good luck. It sounds like he's in a potentially dangerous situation for a pup.

| I just posted behind Judy In Waco in another thread and have to agree once again. You are going to get a million questions about this. I would also like to add that this is a public forum so make sure you really know who you are offering this pup to. Detail we want more detail |

| Thanks to you both. I'm in the Orlando area. I haven't posted the rehoming fee because I'd like to talk to the person first. I'm so concerned about this little guy and the home is MUCH more important than the fee. I will absolutely be looking for references. Will try my best to post photos tonight.

| Sorry this is so off topic IMO its not so much that she came from a puppymill, its the breeding mom who is stuck at the mill. Look at poor Ella ~if everyone who bought a puppy from a pet shop could see her they would run in the other direction from pet shops. Sounds like you have a good plan in place. If you can't find her a good home maybe you could talk your husband into keeping her. Last edited by megansmomma; 12-23-2008 at 09:42 AM. |
