| Nj puppymill Hi guys. I thought I'd post this in case any rescue could help or in case anyone was interested in adopting. The Monmouth ASPCA took dogs from a Howell Township Kennel. Puppymill is what it was. They had 300 or more dogs and the ASPCA will be taking half of them. All have lived their lives in carriers. They will be taken to the ASPCA and checked out and then placed in no kill shelters for adoption. If anyone is interested I'd contact the Monmouth County ASPCA. Elaine |

| So true! If more people opened their heart and home to a rescue this world would be a better place.

| No, they were chi s, just a couple left when I went there. The was also an adorable little white poodle. If I didn't already have Bubba and Sissy, I would have asked about him/her?.

| Puppy Mills and the Oprah Show I commend all those interested in adopting a yorkie in need. I am a partner with the Florida Yorkie Rescue and it breaks our hearts to see the condition of many of the dogs we receive. Some are in fair shape and have been surrendered by their owners for a whole list of different reasons. Others were rescued in deplorable condition. This past week we received a beautiful little yorkie that was found in a ravine. It was heavy with undergrowth and if not for his whimpers a woman who was walking by with her dog would not have heard him. It took two grown men to jump over the cement retaining wall and into that thicket to find the little guy. He was covered in thorns and his long coat had to be shaved down but he has the most adorably little face. We do not know why he was tossed except to say that this is the second Yorkie this same woman has found in that same ravine. It kills me that people throw animals away like trash. Stitch is now on antibiotics and will be neutured and probably have some or many teeth pulled next week. He has a serious gum infection and many of his teeth are rotten and decayed. Then his healing will begin. The Vet doesn't think he is more than 7 years old and he weighs in at 6.9 lbs. This is just one of the many yorkie we encounter on any given day. I would like to suggest to anyone out there who may have one or two yorkies and think they have room for one more, to adopt one in need. But please know that many of these dogs come in with health issues. Some are just seniors and at the age of 9, 10 or 12, they still have years of love to give to someone, but those are always passed up. Some may need some medications on a daily basis. You would not believe how many people turn down a dog simply because he may need one pill every morning. And some yorkies are big, weighing 8 to 16 pounds. Most people who fill out put applications want the tiny females and they are rarely turned in. So please, everyone, keep an open mind. As for puppy mill dogs, I too saw the Oprah show and a few weeks later I rescued a small Affenpinscher that had been rescued from a Puppy Mill in Minnesota. She needed two surgeries to regain her health, but she is my best little girl. I rescued another small Maltese from the Tennessee Puppy Mill Bust in July. She has turned out to be quite a challange. Many of these dogs are never socialized and are absolutely petrified of any human contact because the only humans they have ever known have caused them pain and indifference. A friend of mine also adopted one of these dogs that was catatonic when it was rescued. The dog was in such bad shape, that it was eventually put down. That is the reality behind these stories. Some end nicely, but some do not. If there is anyone living on the east coast of Florida that would like to be considered as an adoptive parent for a yorkie in need, please go to our website at Home and fill out an application. Thank you for allowing me to stand on my little sopa box for ten minutes. And bless all the yorkie lovers out there! Kit Florida Yorkie Rescue |
