| Amanda 6yrs Female $300 Texas THIS IS NOT MY DOG - PETFINDER LISTING ********************************* http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=10866103 Adoption Fee: $300 Fostered in Texas Age: 6 years Weight: 11 lbs. 11/3/08 - Amanda had her second heartworm treatment last week and is doing very well! She has her final appointment with the vet in another week and then will be ready to be adopted. She has come a long way and is a very sweet pup! She would do better as an only pup. She is very frightened by children; so please even if it is grandchildren who visit, this is not a good option for her. 8/15/08 - Amanda's heartworm treatment was started today. She had a hard time with the injection and was in some pain, so she was given an injection prior to leaving the vet clinic. She also stresses over things and did seem very upset about having to spend the day at the vet. She is a bit better this evening and resting quietly. 5/16/08 - Cool....a car ride! Bet the family is taking me to Petsmart. Hey, wait a second.....this is not Petsmart. No toys, no treats, no fire hydrant to leave my calling card. Oh, no.....where are they going? Wait family, hold the car door open. There must be some mistake. Maybe they went to run an errand and will be right back for me. I’ll wait here. And waiting is exactly what Amanda a/k/a Mandy was doing when a resident of the neighborhood she was dropped off in saw her sitting in the cul de sac and assumed she lived nearby. The next day, when she was in the same spot, still waiting, that resident picked her up knowing that she must be lost. Signs were put up, local pounds and vets were called and found ads were run, but no one came back for little Mandy. Aside from the fact that her previous so-called owners left her all alone to fend for herself, by the looks of her, they also forgot to feed her and had obviously never heard of heartworm prevention. To that end, Mandy is heartworm positive and will have to go through heartworm treatment before going to her forever home. On the up side, she is now up to date on vaccines, has been spayed (no more babies for this baby) and is putting on some much needed weight. While we are on the subject of food, Mandy can get a little Napoleon-like when it comes to feeding time. You can’t really blame her, she never knew when her next meal would come. She is settling in at her foster home now and is gradually letting her foster mom get "out of her sight" for more than a few minutes at a time. Guess she figures if she sticks like glue, she’ll never be left again. We will keep everyone updated on Mandy’s heartworm treatment progress, and in the meantime, if you think that you have the FOREVER home that Mandy deserves, please submit an application. If you can’t add another to the family right now, but would still like to help, please contribute to help offset the vet bills that Mandy has and will incur. Thank You. This pet is up to date with routine shots. This pet has been altered. Yorkie Haven Rescue, Inc. League City, TX Please Email
