| To be killed by Heart-stick = Clayton County Georgia THIS WAS SENT TO ME VIA EMAIL: PLEASE PASS ALONG Clayton Co. Police Dept. Animal Control Unit From someone on the scene: THIS SHELTER IS NOT 'SCREWING AROUND". They will kill after 7 days on petfinder. When an animal is killed or adopted they add another to the petfinder site. Basically; the place is empty; they are not holding over any animals after 7 days. OTI's (Owner Turns-ins) are killed immediately no matter how adoptable the animal is; puppies are being killed as soon as the owner walks out. The petfinder site only lists a small portion of what's there at the shelter. They kill with a heart - stick !! God Help the animals !! Please make a difference !! The shelter is not full...they have no problems killing animals. The place is spooky because there are no animals. They are being killed off!!!! ************************************************ PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG QUICKLY The current administration does not give the reprieves as we saw last year. The kill rate has gone way up according to some. Clayton Co. Police Dept. Animal Control Unit 1396 Government Circle Jonesboro, GA 30236 Phone: 770-477-3509 or 770-477-3684 Fax: 770-603-4199 - you must fax no later than 8 AM - faxes are being read before euth !! BUSINESS HOURS: MON-FRI 8-5 AND SAT 8-4 IF YOU Have questions or NEED PULL HELP PLEASE CONTACT LEE nickoftimerescue@yahoo.com<mailto:ni...ue @yahoo.com> yahoo.com<http://yahoo.com/> PAYPAL FOR DONATIONS -- nickoftimerescue@yahoo.com<mailto:ni...ue @yahoo.com> yahoo.com<http://yahoo.com/> ; Please indicate "CLAYTON" in the subject line. |

| Oh my gosh What is a heart - stick? I think one of the things that has to get out nationwide to make sure petowners start to equate "Owner Turns-ins" with euthanasia at high kill shelters. Some people assume that "shelter" means that they're turning in a dog they can't take care of anymore and it will automatically be taken care of and saved by someone. That knowledge would put more burden on the pet owner to take more responsibility for rehoming, if possible?

| I just went to nick of time rescue and made a donation. I'm asking all my YTers to do the same. PLEASE If you go to the site Nick of Time Rescue and watch the video and follow the links on the page. It's horrifying what happens to these animals. I also wrote a letter and sent it. Please do what you can...do everything within your power to help these dogs and cats so that they don't suffer that fate! Write letters, make donations, adopt from a kill shelter. PLEASE!

| STOP "HEART STICK" Euthanasia in St. Clair County Michigan - The Petition Site Maybe this will help explain what a heart stick is. I'm confused though because it says that the "shelter" above uses a gas chamber? Regardless animals are dying needlessly.

| Wow! How terrible. I went to their petfinder website and clicked on a dog I thought was cute, not that I am from GA or anything. Sadly it said they were on the list to be killed on the 24th, although I couldn't have adopted one anyways it just sunk my heart to know that the little fella is probably dead |

| i'm so mad I'm nauseus. from reading up, it sounds like heart stick method is killing a dog with an agent that stops the heart muscle without anesthesia. It is inhumane and cruel -- "euthanasia" literally means "good" death. (Eu- in etymology meaning good, like in "euphoria")

| A heart stick is an injection of euthanasia drug given intracardially. Evidently some "shelters" don't sedate before doing this procedure.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | OMG how horrible. I do agree that people should be fined for not having their animals spayed and neutered. The pet over population is out of hand and that is why this is happening. I get so frustrated especially at this time of year because mills can just smell the money with the holidays coming up.
