| Presidential Campaigns and Puppy Mills I have sent letters to the presidential candidates' web sites urging them to do something to ban puppy mills. Wouldn't it be nice if there weren't so many unrescued, little unwanted lives out there? Won't you join me since this is an excellent time to remind them of the problem? They all need the peoples' support and who knows, they might include this issue in their campaigns. Please, the more letters they get, the more they will be likely to do something to pass a law against puppy mills. PM me if you would like a copy of the letters I wrote.

| Good Idea! Very good idea....did you read www.newsweek.com/id/78241 about Huckabees son torturing a dog to death and not even being punished (daddy made it go away)? I haven't heard anything bad about Obamo, Hillary likes animals, and Mcain (I've heard) has a good voting record concerning animals. Go to the petfinder website and check out the message board...some interesting information. roxanne

I found this quote from Obama: Vote for Obooma! As far as I know, this is the first time any candidate has answered any question about animal rights (other than, possibly, Dennis Kucinich, who is a vegan). I would probably have asked him this myself, if given a chance, since I'm pretty sure where he stands on other issues, having read his Blueprint for Change. (pdf) Anyway, here's his answer, and it was a good one: Obama responded that he cares about animal rights very much, "not only because I have a 9-year-old and 6-year-old who want a dog." He said he sponsored a bill to prevent horse slaughter in the Illinois state Senate and has been repeatedly endorsed by the Humane Society. "I think how we treat our animals reflects how we treat each other," he said. "And it's very important that we have a president who is mindful of the cruelty that is perpetrated on animals." It's not like I was impartial before, but I prefer pulling the lever for a candidate who is willing to address issues of animal cruelty, and recognizes the link between our treatment of animals and our treatment of humans http://whatdoiknow.typepad.com/what_...on-animal.html

| Well, he's out of the race now, but when Romney was representing MA, he took his family on a road trip from Massachusettes to Canada WITH HIS DOG IN HIS CARRIER STRAPPED TO THE ROOF OF THE CAR. When the dog defacated, he stopped the car and HOSED IT DOWN with the dog still in the cage on the roof. Can you imagine the fear and panic a dog would have felt exposed on the roof of a car, especially anytime an 18 wheeler drove by them? What an idiot. For this very reason, I could never vote for him. Here's just one article on it, from TIME MAGAZINE: http://www.time.com/time/nation/arti...638065,00.html

I really like Obama's response. Animal cruelty in this country is rediculous, and it needs to be helped.

| I can't say that I'm surprised.....they are so quick to talk about taking and denying rights from people, that they wouldn't even stop to consider an animal. I'm an Obamakin.
