| It's a Steal $300 is not a high adoption fee. What adopters have to realize is that the $300 fee pays for the spay/neuter, shots etc. In NJ the cost for a spay or neuter is $350.00. Also, what needs to be understood is that the adoption fee paid for a puppy also helps the older dogs that linger in rescue. Believe me a good legitimate rescue does no make money, they lose money. My Lilly is a rescue. I got her at 13 weeks old and paid a $400 adoption fee. I received all her papers and the vetting including a pediatric spay topped $900, yet I only paid a $400 adopt fee. Think about it, if you BUY a Yorkie pup you would be paying atleast $600 and that's figuring very low, then you have to pay for the shots, and the spay / neuter. $300 is a steal. Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i agree, $300 is a reasonable price for a rescue (not a shelter) because they take care of the dog before its adopted out (usually vaccines and spay/neuter)

| I am not in a position to get another--I'm in crew housing----or I would apply for sure. I have my eye set on that rescue in Middletown someone posted a link to last week--I am going to volunteer there and when the right baby comes through for us at the right time----yeah, maybe babies. $300 is wonderful! |

I have been rejected for the following reasons, which breaks my heart because I have such a wonderful home to offer with unlimited vet services: * My location * The fact that I have a child * They don't ship their dogs by air * The adoption fee is unaffordable for me (in addition to shipping costs)
