| Why... ....is it that when Petfinder listings are posted here the majority (not all) of them are for tiny little Yorkies or puppies? These kind of dogs in rescue WILL find a home. There are hundreds of 10lb 2 year old boys that need homes or 12 year old Yorkies that need homes. Noone wants them......These tiny little one's and the puppies will find homes. They have waiting lists a mile long way before they even come into the rescue groups that have them. It's a fact. For the others it's so much harder. It's very sad. Just my Honest Heartfelt Feelings

| I found that so frustrating as I was looking for a Yorkie. I wanted to find an older Yorkie to adopt! The only older Yorkies I could find were 14 hours away, except for one...I fell in love with a 9 year old Yorkie at a local Humane Society and during the adoption process we discovered she had a brain tumor. Heartbroken, we weren't able to adopt her because we were afraid that we couldn't afford the treatment for such a serious health problem. Even though I only spent an hour with her, I think I cried everyday for over a week about her because I was so worried she wouldn't find a good home. I finally was able to check the Humane Society's website the other day and was glad to find that she has a home now!

| I am so tired of Yorkie rescues. I don't think most of them have any idea what they are doing to be honest. Sometimes there are posts on here that a person inquired about a Yorkie and either the rescue didn't get back with the person at all (I guess they aren't as desperate as they say to place these dogs) or they have too many rules and very few people would be a match (like fenced in yard). So maybe people are trying to adopt the bigger Yorkies but the rescues are the problems. I don't know...

| Maybe some rescues don't know what their doing but we seem to have done right by the 386 Yorkies that we've placed through our rescue in the last 27 months. And yes, some of the homes have younger children in them. Not to discriminate we have also adopted to people in their late 70's and even to an 81 year old man. They deserve to have a companion also. To generalize all rescue's as the same is not fair. My post was about people only putting up listings of small little Yorkies or puppies which the majority pups that come through rescue do not exist. The little young one's that are up for adoption have a list of people a mile long to adopt them. The 2 year old 10lbs boys stay in rescue because nobody wants them. So you see,it's not always the rescue group and if you could see what comes through my email on a daily basis you would know it's the people. There are days when I shake my head at how some people can be and ask myself, "is is me"? I have 2 10lbs boys in my home that came in unruly with major social problems. I have worked with one for almost 2 months and he is now ready for a home. For all the time I've put into him why can't I ask the potential adopter questions and see where he's going to live and check their vet references. I have every right to know and being that I've put my heart and soul into this boy I want only the best/right home for him. If it's too much of a problem to fill out the application and go through the process, we don't want that person to apply. I'm sorry your tired of Yorkie Rescues. I'm glad I will NEVER be tired of it. | I don't know why ALL my next Yorkies will be rescues. I tend to like males and I DEFINATLY want Seniors. As far as weight, I don't really consider 10 lbs to be huge, so I don't know why. I am going to contact Jamiesaari - She is a member here. Maybe you have read about her? She has unlimited Vet care, but can not really afford a HUGE adoption fee. Also, she lives in Canada and she has a 6 yr old girl. They just recently lost a Senior Gal they rescued, but also just got a 6 lb Female rescue, and they have been searching for a playmate. I don't know if it would work out, she keeps getting rejected by rescues b/c she has a 6 year old daughter I know it is very depressing for her. This boy sounds perfect for her, but that would be she would have to have him flown into Canada, and I am not sure that you do something like that? |

| I just went to your site, they all look so cute! I am IN LOVE with Rider what a CUTE face. He reminds me so much of my TJ I am at my limit with dogs though right now, but I will keep my fingers crossed that Rider and all the other Yorkies in Rescue find loving home |

| I was on two Yorkie rescues and regional coordinator for one. We did background checks and home checks before placing a dog. This is to try and find a home that we felt would be stable so the dog wouldn't be put back into rescue. Not having a fence or having small kids did not automatic eliminate them from being adoptive parents. The home check was a must, to see how the kids behave with a dog and how the parents interact with both the kids and the dog and so on. I don't know how other rescues are run. I can only tell you how ours was run. |
