Default Opening my heart to a Yorkie female rescue ...

I placed a thread in the "Yorkies for sale/wanted" section and just realized that I probably should have posted here. I apologize for the repeat as I am relatively new to this forum.

I am able to take in a female Yorkie (either rescued or from a family looking for a good home). I am self employed and work from home, so the dog would rarely be left alone at any time.

My tragic story about the 10-year-old Yorkie, Annie, I rescued is chronicled here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=106677

Unfortunately Annie was suffering from terminal cancer (among many other things) and was in so much pain it would have been selfish to keep her alive. Euthanizing Annie was the most painful thing I ever had to do in my life (I have tears in my eyes as I'm writing this), but she had to be put to sleep because of the incredible amount of pain she was in.

So here I am with a hole in my heart and every supply a Yorkie could possibly need thanks to having Annie (i.e. kennel, bed, blankets, toys, baby gate, food, treats, puppy bads, dishes, a harness, leashes, collars, shampoo, doggie perfume, a house with a fenced in back yard and much more). In Annie's memory, I would like to offer a home to another rescued girl.

I am in a unique situation in that I can receive unlimited veterinary care and medicine because my business belongs to a barter exchange where businesses trade services with each other (without spending cash). So as an example, I build websites for $5,000 each - which gives me $5,000 in credit to spend with any other business that belongs to the exchange (there is a vet and a pet store that belong to my the barter exchange).

My cash situation as a single mother is limited, but I am very blessed to have this barter arrangement set up for veterinary care and pet supplies. I do not have money to purchase a Yorkie, but would be able to take in rescued puppy or one where the previous owner is not looking to make money, but just the peace of mind that their dog is going to an excellent home. I live in Winnipeg, Canada and could pay the costs of shipping the right Yorkie to my city.

I have a sweet, gentle 6-year-old daughter named Hannah, who loves Yorkies just as much as I do. We own a house with a fairly large, fenced-in back yard. We treated our previous Yorkie, Annie, like a member of the family and she travelled in our car with us on excursions regularly.

We have a ton of love to give and everything ready to provide a home to the Yorkie that God blesses us with. I can provide references, updates and photographs on the Yorkie I end up adopting. My email address is jamiesaari@yahoo.com and my cell is (204) 979-8353.

Warm Regards,

Jamie

Here are some photographs of Annie, the 10-year-old Yorkie I rescued and who passed away on Friday, December 14th ... one of the saddest days of my life.

Jamie I am so sorry about Annie. I had read the post when you rescues her and admire you very much for taking her in and letting her spend her last days happy. Good luck in your search. Any yorkie would be lucky to have you as their momma.

Chopper needs a new home, I have two boys one is 12 months the other is 5 weeks, I have no time to care for Chopper anymore and give him the attention he deserves. He is alout 4 years old and neutered, tan in color, knows about 10 tricks, house trained, is a Yorshire/Maltese cross and weighs about 10 pounds. He will be missed!

YorkieShadow: Thank you so much for taking the time into researching and finding Chopper's information. I have good news to share and have included information below from my original post when asking for advice about Annie.

************************************************** **

Something truly unbelievable has happened and I'm still feeling like I need to give my head a shake as my wishes and dreams rarely come true in such an instant for me. Maybe it's Christmas magic ...

I received an email from the operations manager of the Humane Society in Thief River Falls, Minnesota saying that she thought I would have the perfect home for a female Yorkie she had recently rescued. The four-year-old little girl was seized from a neglectful home in the area and was suffering a horrible infestation of fleas. The humane society treated her and she no longer has fleas, but has dry skin and a bit of dandruff from the aggressive treatment they needed to give her.

She is four years old, very tiny (less than 4 pounds) and looked very cute in the photograph she sent me. My daughter and I decided to take the drive (three hours there and three hours back) today and we instantly fell in love with her. She has the most beautiful little face and a cute little overbite. We have decided to name her "Tika" (as we loved the name of Omega's Yorky named "Tinka").

Tika's personality is very much like Annie , except Tika has more confidence and curiosity like a puppy. She is very afraid of new people, but warms up much quicker than Annie did. She does not like my mother's Pug, "T-Bone", but I'm sure she will warm up to him down the road.

It is the most amazing thing, but this little girl is definitely the right one for our family. She instantly took a liking to Annie's cushion bed and is laying in her bed next to me in the same way Annie did. Both Tika and Annie tremble like crazy when they are in new situations or meeting new people.

I hope this doesn't sound strange, but I believe Annie is smiling down on us. I am so thankful Annie came into my life because she awakened my love for dogs again. There was something so special about Annie and I will continue to love her for the rest of my life. Rescuing "wounded souls" is truly my calling. I'd like to devote a month or two to fully training Tika to use her "pee pad" and adjust to our home. I may take in another Yorkie down the road, but will limit myself to no more than two dogs.

I plan to follow the story of the 8 1/2-year-old male in New York City and if he is available after Tika has settled in, I may welcome him into my home as well (if his owner agrees to rehome him with me, of course).

Here are some pictures of my new little girl. Although she looks like a puppy, she is really four years old.
