There is a more sophisticated Singer it's called the "Quantum XL-6000" for ~ $3000. When I did my research I asked what's the difference between the two and the seller told me it's like a normal TV to a High Definition TV. The Singer Service Center here has demo machines and they show you everything.

Ohhh... and BTW, there are tons of embroidery designs on the web and they are either for free or cost about $10 to download. So sometimes I just get one of those b/c the designing and digitizing takes quite some time. I always do the lettering myself with the graphics software and autopunch it b/c the font designs are pretty expensive.
okay so you are saying the stitching is even better? And all the other features are included? I will call the dealer to see what they have. . . hopefully they have both just for comparison.

how long does it the machine convert a design?

That's fast, the time lays in preparing the design for digitizing... how should I explain... well... somebody wants a daisy and a saying in Edwardian Script, so I go to my graphics software and create a daisy and the text. That might take me about 1/2 hour, then I go to the Autopunch and digitize it. That's 10 more minutes until it looks like I want it to look. There is a difference of what you can do in a graphics programm and how it looks like as an embroidery. I spent countless hours to get behind the secrets of digitizing designs so they look nice... you'll see....

What do you guys think of this one? My sewing machine still works but it wouldn't hurt to have it as back up to a better one. Anyways, my business isn't as big as you'all's so my budget is probably smaller. I thought this would be a good start. Does anyone have this one already?

Ummm... that's well over my budget too... you now, I just got a "Brother" sewing machine as a 'work horse' form Walmart for $130... works great! I use the Singer only for embroidery.

Oh okay. I am so torn. LOL. I'm always trying to find stuff at Walmart cause it's so easy and inexpensive, but they only have the brother embroidery one that I already had and sold. I did want to just get a regular machine. But now I saw these other ones and me likey. I would probably have to wait longer for one of these. AHHH I'm just torn over what to get. I do have to get one soon though.

you are better off getting Mitzi's recommendation as they are only $700 and you will have everything you need The links you posted shows one over and one slightly less than $700.

I have the Husqvana Emerald and I love it! The one I have only does monogramming, but I may upgrade to the embroidery machine soon. I think I paid 1200 for mine, and the embrodiery model was on sale for 1595 plus tax.

I use the Brothers Disney one. But I'm thinking about trading it in for a newer model. I've never had a problem with it, but I would love one that connects to my PC so I can download patterns.

My cousin (an avid sewer and quilter) uses the Bernina and loves it. She warned me though to be careful what you download as some people have downloaded patterns and it wiped their memory out! So if you get one, be sure to check with your fellow YTr's for reliable download sites...

Check out the prices at www.sewvacdirect.com! They have awesome prices and have always knocked off the shipping cost. I've bought several from them and have never had a problem. But make sure you have a shop in town that services them, cause if you buy off the internet, you have to ship it back to them for repairs if you don't have something close by. Of course, that's normal for just about anything you buy off the net.

Default Singer Futura

I have the singer futura and it does double as a sewing machine but i just use it strictly as an embroidery machine. I do keep it hooked to my laptop at all times. I don't buy disks because on this machine you can draw your own pics and upload them to your laptop and do autopunch and it will sew the item for you. It took me a little while to figure it out but it does a great job. I do have one thing to tell you about this machine though. It was in the shop alot because the guy i bought it from wasn't a singer dealer!!! He didn't know that they had changed out the bobbin mechanism because it was not functioning properly. So if you purchase this machine you need to make sure it is from an APPROVED SINGER DEALER!! I HAD TO DRIVE A 9 HOUR ROUND TRIP TO GET IT WORKING PROPERLY!! They did fix it for free of course because it was under warranty at the time. Here are some of the items i have made with the machine. You can't upload images you actually have to draw them and color them and then upload to your pc and then you can autopunch it and the machine will sew it for you.
Hope you find one you really like.
