| Pet Insurance? Hey guys. I was considering buying pet insurance for my Yorkies and my Morkie and was wondering if anyone has a specific insurance company they work with or would reccomend or not reccomend etc. I'm looking into VIP Pet Insurance and into Pet Care Insurance. Anyone have any experience with any Pet Insurance, I'd appreciate any input. The rates for one dog seem to be around $35 per month and weighing options on whether it's worth it or not. It's a gamble. I'm looking at god forbid one of my little ones get really sick the $$'s can go into thousands then it would pay off but then again I may be paying out $35 a month and use if for nickle and dime stuff which would then never pay off. Hmmm, not that I ever want anything to happen to my dogs but you know what I mean. Happy early to New Year to everyone. Elaine |

| If you use the "search" button and type in "VPI" you will get lots of hits on pet insurance. This is just one example http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...&highlight=vpi I bought the standard plan at VPI. I did the math and determined my vet gave me better rates on vaccines and spay/neuter than what I would pay to obtain the same from VPI. I guess its a lot like people insurance, you take a gamble, pay for it in case you need it and hope that you don't.

| I just purchased Bailey the insurance yesterday, because I read too many times about other yorkies getting hurt and also Bailey has been scaring me by doing clumsy stuff like falling out of his little bed because he was leaning too much off of it to get my attention SPOILED LITTLE BRAT!! So I feel MUCHHHHHH better to know that I have a little cushion for Bailey if the unfortunate would occur. I went with VPI and I got the SUPERIOR Plan w/ the vaccination and Routine Care Coverage (but they do have a lower rate just wanted the BEST COVERAGE for Bailey) Initialy I have to pay 2 months right off so it was $48.98 and then over the next 10 months its 26.50 which includes a 2.00 monthly processing fee (maybe because I put it on my credit card I don't know) Also it takes 1-2 business days for VPI to review you records then you will receive an email (which I haven't recieve yet will probably recieve it tomorrow) and that email will state if you are appoved or not THEN after that you have a 14 day waiting period before your policy becomes effective..........and thats all I know LOL Hope I could help but I am glad I purchased it yesterday because the way I see it is if Bailey needs something that is in the hundreds or even in the thousands for that matter (which I have heard cases of such) we couldn't bare it all by ourselfs I would need someone to help us out so why look to relatives or friends and WORRY! I will just look to VPI (thats just how I see it) Oh and the only other company I had researched was the AKC HealthCare Plan but it was more expensive. Look at it this way if you think that you are financially stable to afford the unexpected even if its in the thousands don't get the insurance and PRAY it doesn't happen but if you are like me and my husband and the unexpected would happen it would put a hole in our pockets EVEN though might I add you do have to pay for the service UP FRONT (if I'm not mistaken then submit it to VPI then you get your check) but at least you get some of it back. This is just my opinion of pet insurance.

| I have VPI for four of my yorkies and for my Smooth fox terrier, who is my oldest. It is a bit much but I believe it is a good investment especially for yorkies. Thank goodness, I have not had to use it and hope I never will.

| I heard that pet insurance barely covers anything. I would definitely get Wookie insurance if I could use it. On average (I think) that our yorkies go into the vet once or twice a year with something wrong. They are like kids, and we sure as HECK treat them like kids.. so that means we worry and rush to the vet like crazy mom's. LoL Any idea what it covers and what it doesn't?? My little wook is sick and i went the 24 hr vet.. $220, and now i have to take him in again for x-rays.. thats at least another $200. I'm not made of money.. this insurance would have come in handy |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have it for Cali who unfortunately went hypoglycemic before her coverage started so they ridered (excluded) any charges related to that and they don't cover hereditary diseases like Liver shunt, which Cali was diagnosed with. But with her many hospitilizations, tests and surgery, mostly at the 24 hour vet they covered other expenses for her intestinal biopsies and some stomach issues. Out of 6,000.00 in expenses I received back around 1200.00 which was a lot more than I paid in premiums so I think it is worth it especially if Yorkies break a leg which isn't that uncommon. I would rather have it than not.

| we still dont know. I took him in last saturday. He was lathargic and breath smelled rotten and he wasnt eating. The only thing the vet found was a swolen tonsil and she said to bring him back if he gets worse, or stays the same. Well he got better and started eating and playing. Now he's back to being out of it and sleeping all day. Thats not Wookie, he loves to play and bounce off the walls. She said the xrays can show if he has any pinched nervs or back pain or if he hurt his back somehow. I'll be taking him in, in a little bit |

| I don't think VPI paying $1,200 out of $6,000 is all that good?? Or is it just me? Wook has an appointment at 3:45. Do they cover blood tests and x-rays? |

| I'm looking into insurance now, at first I didn't think it was worth it or helped in any way.
