| Reaction on Dresses I get my new baby on Monday. I go and visit Brissy often and take lots of pictures. When I show the pictures to freinds and coworkers I often get the question (more of a statement) "You're not going to dress her up are you?" I have already bought two dresses and a sweater and plan to buy more, lots more. Does anyone have a few snappy comebacksfor these naturalists? |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I think you summed up how you feel about her in your first sentence. This is your baby, right? You wouldn't let your child run around nude now, would you? LOL......congratulations on your new baby!!!

| I have to confess, before I had Yorkies I thought it just a little crazy that people would put clothes on their dogs, carry them around in carriers, dote on them, etc..... But things look a whole lot different now that I have two! They do have some clothes (although here in FL it is not a necessity --it's just for fun). They do get toted in their carrier and Ben actually seems to like it. And of course we dote on them endlessly. But if someone rolls their eyes at the clothes, thinks I am a little over-the-top with them -- I do understand. It is not their fault -- they just have never experienced the joy of having Yorkies! So, the comeback? .... "sorry, you've never had a Yorkie have you?" And then just smile knowingly!

Me too! Until I got Tink, I thought anything other than a sweater in winter was just plain obsessive. Well, now I'm obsessive and lovin' it! Plus, they need some protection 'cause they're so little especially in the winter with their little bit of hair. So why not make them pretty at the same time?! Makes perfect sense to me now that I have my own Yorkie baby! | |

| I would just give a fun reply back. Most people who dress their dogs are just fun loving people thats what I have found anyway. I really dont think people mean any harm when they make comments its just not what they are used to is all.

| I've always thought it was cute to dress them, even when I didn't have one. Some people are just not use to it, but I find a lot of bigger dog owners buying trench coats, raincoats etc. Everyones's hopping on the dress up bandwagon. Back in the day it was the poodle who reign supreme, then they minaturized them. Their hair would be cut different ways, nails polished, hair dyed, bows on the tail and ears. All I heard was, oh that is so cute even with the Maltese, because people assumd they were poodles. They are cute dogs and look cute all dolled up. Soon as the yorkie paraded thru the door all dressed up, everyone had something to say. They would be like, what is that? or I know he don't have no clothes on. Now they are asking me where I got the item from, eventually they come around.

| When I got Maddie, I hadn't planned on dressing her up much...just maybe a sweater for the cool weather! That all changed...LOL! I buy for her a lot more than I do for myself and of course, with sewing, I always sew her one of each one I sell so she can model it. She's got more clothes than she needs, but it's so much fun. Your friends and coworkers will love it when she's dressed up. I think those of us that dress them up get more good comments than bad. Congrats on your new little darling! I'm so happy for you!

| I hear ya and thank ya. Today was spent like this. I went and spent time with Brissy. She knows me and loves ME!!!! At my feet all by her self pawing to pick her up as soon as she saw ME!!!, leaving her five sibling playing five feet away to see ME!!!! She already loves me as I have her for quite a while. The funny part is it's not about me, it's all about HER!!! She's not ready to come home yet so I went shopping. I finally found a shop (thanks to links from here) and I went nuts. I had already done the Petsmart, Pet Supermarket, Kmart , Walmart. This place was my little girl dream shop. I went home with my purchases and showed my husband the dresses I bought and he said, "If I spent that on me, you would kick my @&^#.". But he loved the dresses and shoulder carrier with her name in something that looks like diamonds. How much fun is this?? The day is drawing near to bring her home. I hope I survive the wait. This community has helped so much. Thanks. |

| Congratulations on your little baby. I remember when I got Willow this summer . . . I had no intentions of dressing her up. A sweater here and there maybe. Yeh right!!! When I saw those cute clothes . . . and then how cute she looked in them . . . I was hooked. Suprisingly enough only a couple of people have made fun of me . . . but they are the ones that I expected it from. I own my own mortgage company and Willow comes to work with me in her Pet Flys Bag all decked out in what we call her "work clothes". We especially love Little Lily and Lulu Pink. Most people think she is adorable . . . what's not to love about a little 3.5 pound Yorkie puppy with a cute ponytail and cute little outfit wanting to give you kisses? Who can resist that? And for the most part if someone gives us a funny look I just politely say something silly like . . . "yes I know what you're thinking . . . I told my friends I was going to get a very small dog and dress her up everyday and carry her around in a purse so all of them could laugh at me". Usually it lightens the mood and they get a little chuckle and of course Willow steals the show. Clothes are so much fun and Willow loves getting dressed. She knows when I open up the drawer where her clothes are . . . she is going somewhere and get's all excited. I lay one of her work outfits out and she grabs it in her mouth and runs over to her carrier and jumps in and sits there and waits for me to zip her in. I have to tell her that she has to take her jammys off first before she can get dressed and go. There is nothing like a sweet little Yorkie to melt your heart. |

| JESSY: you go girl. I have a boy and buy him nice outfits too, what do I care what the other people are thinking? Besides, I keep seeing big dogs (well, way bigger than Pepper) sporting sweaters and coats, being walked around where I live.

| I thought the same. That putting on clothe was dumb but now I sometimes feel embarrased if Jazzie is NOT dressed... Weird how our preceptions change once you have these little loves.
