| Console carseat? Does anyone have a console carseat? I am thinking of ordering one for Lily, and have measured my console, it is 10 1/2 inches long. The console carseat is 15 inches long. Should it hang over the console or fit it perfectly? That is the small console, the bigger console carseat is too wide let alone the length. I am just wondering if my console is too small for a console carseat. I have a jeep commander, if anyone has that vehicle and a console carseat let me know if it works. Or if anyone has one with any vehicle how do they fit?

| We have a console carseat. I have a 1996 Lexus Sport Coupe. The carseat is designed with a "lip" on the back edge that is intended to go along the back of the console. My console is not overly big, but it fits perfectly. There is one strap that goes around the console lid, and then two other straps that go through the bucket seats to further secure the carseat. The width of the smaller console just fits between my seats. In fact, when you move a seat forward or back, the naugahyde on the carseat squeeks!! I wouldn't go any other way though. Sissy is literally right next to me and can rest her head on my arm, or I can put my arm around her. I tried another brand that strapped on to the passenger seat and she wanted nothing to do with it. But she loves her console carseat!!!

| I tried the console car seat and didn't like it because there is no back to it. If you ever got rear-ended your baby has nothing to keep her from flipping over to the back set area especially since the harness tie is at the back of the seat. I prefer the type that straps into the passender seat. There's a back (the actual car seat), the seatbelt secures the doggie seat and you attach the harness strap to the seatbelt. I just think this is safer.

| That's the reason I got it. I wanted Jewel closer to me but she fell out of it into the back and was dangling by her harness while I was on the freeway. I never used it again.

| Thanks Jodie, it sounds like Sissy does well with it. My console has air vents on the back so I am afraid the lip of the seat would cover these. I guess I could order one and send it back if it doesn't work. I love the suede ones and I want Lily to be able to set close to me and my hubby. Plus we are going to Cleveland in a week and a half and are taking all 3 dogs plus my two sons and luggage, so I figured the console seat would give us a little more room. I have two of the lookout seats, but with my two boys it would be cramped. We have 3 rows of seats, but if we use the 3rd row we don't have much trunk space for luggage and 3 crates for the dogs. So I really want to try and find a console seat that works. Thanks for your info.

| We got ours before we got our pup. She took to it immediately and six months later goes straight to it when she gets in the truck. I don't see this as an unsafe product, there may be some that are safer -I don't know, what I do know is that Crystal loves it, stays in it, and is much safer than if she were roaming the seats. If she were to jump out of it, which she hasn't done before, the type of harness she wears would not injure her if she were hanging by it momentarily. If she has a problem she's at your side, not in the back or across the vehicle. As for fit, if it doesn't fit as you would like on your console you may try putting a piece of high density foam or a firm flat pillow under it before you strap it on, for stability. Good luck. |

Hope this helps. I'm not here to debate. Just sharing my experiance of how Jewel fell off into the back seat. Believe me when you are on the freeway doing 60+ and can't pull over, you do get stressed, wanting to help your scared pup back up. It's dangerous to do this while driving. I wouldn't want any pup in that position for even a minute.

| I have the console idk I kind of like it because she's right there but Tila doesn't listen well so I usually have to hold her in even though the harness is as short as can be I just know she'd panick if she wasn't right there Any suggestions of minor changes I can make to it so it's safer and will keep her in? |

| Well, I went to the local boutique(40 minutes from me) that I have been frequenting since I found it, and she had one of the console seats I have been wanting. So I tried it in my commander(she had the small and the larger), and it works. I bought it and Lily loves it! It is by Animals Matter and is a tan suede, and seems to be deeper than the ones with the fleece in them. Here is what it looks like, mine is the size of the pink one. I love the stuff by this brand it very well made and the best materials are used, so it should last a long time. The next thing I want from them is the ramp, and the boutique has them too. The Katie Puff bed is absolutely the softest bed I have ever touched and blankets to match(which I found the material for and have made the blankets, Lily loves them) to die for! http://www.animalsmatter.com/product..._car_seat.html

My furkids Donating Member | I have a regular dog car seat. (bought from Foster and Smith) I think I paid like 89.00 for it. it is deep, is attached to a suitcase where you can put furbaby items, and the seat itself comes off and makes a bed..there is also a strap with a latch on it that you can adjust so furbabies can't fall out..O...the front of the carseat is like a mess which is detachable so if you want to use it as a bed.

| Before i purchase the car seat, I had him in a purse and he would throw up in it cause of his motion sickness. I had purchase a car seat from Ebay for Sparky. I love this car seat. It wraps around the headrest. He sleeps in there and can pop up and see the view if he wishes. I put a leather fabric on it, just in case he throws up so that it would be easier to wipe off as oppose to cleaing the fabric. He seem to like the car seat. This is the one i have. http://cgi.ebay.com/DOG-PET-CAR-BOOS...QQcmdZViewItem Attach is a picture of sparky in it.
