| What do you guys prefer? i was just wondering what do all you people who have cotton hair yorkies use to detangle their matts? my first yorkie, Lucky had silky hair and was soooooo much easier to brush. My baby Laila has cotton hair and when i brush her, i can't even get a comb through her hair even when i use a detangler! i would like to know any GREAT products that work like wonders that i can get from my local pet stores [petco/petmart]. plus any tips on keeping her hair healty, shiny, and thicker? any tips are appreciated. thank you soo much! |

When I first got chloe she had a very cottony puppy coat and I was never successful at finding any products at petco or petsmart and believe me I bought all the different types of "detanglers" and conditioners they had. I think you will have to get products from a company that specializes in shampoos and conditioners for long haired dogs and you will probobly have to go online for that. I know many people like chris christensen products. I like happytails deep conditioner for my yorkie and I think it is the only thing that has actually improved her hair. I also trim off all the dead ends at least once or twice a month and this really helps me to keep her hair tangle free (which is great because chloe is always wearing clothes)

thank you shantink for your help. i will look up the chirs c. products and happytails conditioner. you really saved me a lot of time and money because i really would have tried one product after another if they didn't work. your baby chloe is just soooo gorgeous! i just can't believe she had cotton hair as a pup. did she grow out of her hair as she got older? if so what age? and do you use a brush or a comb or both to groom her? i use a comb because that's what i used from my pup Lucky. well when i comb her, A LOT of hair end up in the comb and i mean A LOT! and now im noticing her coat got finer. im scared to comb her now because of that. did you have any similar experiences? thanx shantink! | |

Chloe's hair isnt exactly silky but its somewhere in between. It took several months to lose her puppy coat. I use a slicker brush, and a boars hair brush(although mine is made of sythetic boars hair). The hair that your yorkie is probobly shedding is her puppy coat. You really do need to get all the dead hair out by brushing because thats what gets tangles so easy. www.imapreciouspup.com sells Chris Christensen products and I sell the happytails products on my website: www.tinkerbellscloset.com if you want to check those out.

| I just use Pantene Deep Conditioner after her shampoo. During the week I brush her with the Pantene Leave-In Conditioner. Believe me... Jazzie has very cottony hair.
