| The Yorkshire Boar Bristle Brush I have been shopping around for a boar bristle brush for Turbie, found a few for outrageous prices, but found out from some YTers that they sell them at Sally Beauty Supply for way cheaper. I finally made it over there, found a nice selection, maybe 7-8 kinds of all different textures. I first bought one, that I thought I liked, but was so soft it wouldnt pick up Turbies hair. I went back, and I was having a hard time choosing. I finally found one that was named the Yorkshire II Flat Styler brush, from Comare. That did it right there, I WAS SOLD!!! It was made to be The lady at Sally thought I was crazy lol Its a mix of boar and nylon (no plastic tips) bristles, with a nice wooden handle, and picked up her hair very nicely. The bristles themself are 3/4 inch tall, are 4 inches long, and 1 1/2 inch wide, the handle itself is 5 inches long. The cost was $5.99. I bought mine at Sally Beauty Supply Just thought I would let you know! Turbie loves it so much, its like a very nice massage and was falling asleep. I love the brush so much as well that Im thinking of picking up another for myself haha

| A boar bristle brush is very important to keeping their coat in good condition and they love being brushed with it. I wonder how much they are at All Systems now?

| I was told to use a pin brush with plastic tips. Does your brush give them static hair????? Which one for a silky coat? |

| I have one of these brushes and love it. I too found mine at Sally Beauty Supply. It does massage and i think it distributes the natural oils on their skin. I also use the pin brush (without the ball tips) and a grey hound comb. My babies love their grooming tools.

To be perfectly honest if they go a couple days without a good brushing I would sooner bathe them again.

Yep! I love that brush!! the one's that are pure boar that are really soft are good for a finishing brush. but i, like you need a more strong bristle at times. i have them in many different grades of coarseness. plastic bristles are bad. but i have one that has the nylon intermingled in with the boar bristle and it's my fav brush. it's made by "african beauty" i love it. got them all at sally's. you can also get motions leave in conditioner there too. for a great price! i went to beauty school way back when i was younger. decided it wasnt for me but still use alot of my skills learned to this day and the most valuable thing i learned was about SALLYS!

I've been looking for a boar's brush though to help distribute the natural oils in the coat.

| a straight pin is always best. i use a fine/med greyhound comb as well. i have a brush that my mother had back in the 1970's. she wore her hair really long and straight back then. she gave me a brush. it has no name. no number. i've never seen anything like it. it's boar bristle, 100%, but not fine and flimsy. it's seen better days, but is still holding up to this day. if i could find that brush now to buy, i'd be one happy lady. funny thing is, that my mother used it on me, her and now it's being used on my furkids sometimes. i soak it in oil and witch hazel about every other month. is holding up great. |

| Has anyone ever heard of "The Stuff" it is really great to spray the coat . Dawn, where do you get the product you put in the water?? I agree Robbie, if you buy a good brush it can last a life time or maybe two. I am still using a hair dryer that says Kent State Dunbar Hall that my son used when he was a freshman at Kent State. He is 49 yrs old now and this little Max for Men by Gilletee I use every other day is still working. I should write the company.

Ive used All systems pin brush but this one is WAY better, more like a massage. Then I use the greyhound tooth comb for any major tangling. Ive been meaning to pick up some Avocado Eqyss grooming spray for brushing, just loved the smell of it and it was very light, didnt oil her coat down. But so far C.C's grooming spray has been fine but its more expensive. BTW, Ive used CCs in the past and found something better I liked as far as shampoos. But then I decided I would try CC's products again, and liked it more. I even used the whole system on my hair the other day So I can tell from experience, ITS GREAT lol Ahh Im crazy. Is there any thing I should do for the boar bristles to keep it in good shape?

| I have a brush that I purchased from my hairdresser back in the '60's. So, Robbie, it is older than yours! It has teeth marks in the handle from several dogs chewing on it. I went to Sally's and bought the dogs a new one! I still use my old one. (Maybe I should trade with them and take the new one and let them have the one that has been chewed up?!) But that brush has been as good as any I have ever had, and I hate to give it up, so I think I'll let them keep the new one. |
