Senior Yorkie Talker | Detangler My yorkie's have cotton hair and it matts so easy .What is the best detangler to use on them. I hate to pull them out and cutting them I don't want to do with Indiana weather this time of year. I brush and comb them ever evening. I use doggie shampoo /conditioner all in one |

| One of mine tangles so easy too. I'm still trying to figure out what's best but I do like the AromaPaws products & used the conditioning spray every night & it really helps. I also have to brush her out twice a day. If you find anything that works for you please share!!! Aroma Paws - dog grooming supplies, pet, pet grooming supplies |

| I've been using Pantene detangler and it's working very well to get out knots and mats. I brush Cody once a day, but he tends to get knotty on his legs. Just a little bit helps me comb out the knot or mat quite easily. |

| Are you using human Pantene detangler or is there a dog version. My 4 month olds hair is very dry.

| We rarely have tangle issues, but have used Cowboy Magic when we have.

| It is human Pantene. I was skeptical, at first, too, but am very pleased with the results. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I think the Cowboy products can be good - however - just be careful of anything w/ silicones as these can coat the fur and cause other problems down the line. To be honest, a yorkie's coat can be a LOT of work! There are some coats that are nice and silky and low maintenance. And then...there are the rest of us! We have the tougher, higher maintenance coats. I can recommend you get the silver metal mustache comb from TopLinePet asap - you absolutely need this for a yorkie coat and for mats and for face. Also, go on Amazon or ebay and get a Tangle Teezer brush - LOVE THEM! SO easy! Is the coat thick or thin/fine, btw...?

| I got the little mustache comb and it is invaluable. (Top line Pet is the best.) So tiny to get around their nose and eyes. I also use Yorkie Splash and Shine spray detangler. Last edited by Knitgirl456; 04-14-2017 at 08:44 AM. |

| Detangler Thank you for the responses! My Frankie's coat is the typical silky coat....he gets a bath weekly and a daily brush which keeps him mat free.... I was using the EZ Groom silky almond line but had trouble locating the detangler so when I stumbled onto the cowboy magic I was thrilled....what is the issue with the silicone? |

| Cowboy Magic was made for animal (I used it on my show horses and sometimes on myself) and it has panthenol which is in Pantene people products. It does not have silicone in it. It is mostly silk protein and panthenol.

| I use the detangler & shine Cowboy Magic ,but always wondered how the shampoo would be. When Cali gets dry hair in the winter I sometimes use silk therapy shampoo.

| There are many factors that effect which detangler works best on your pup's coat. When my boys were younger, I didn't like using much of anything because most products left their coats greasy. Recently, our weather and water quality has left both the humans and doggies in our house with dry hair problems. I started testing various hair products on the doggies again and found that I like Biogroom Coat Polish Spray. Great detangler and doesn't leave the hair greasy or prone to getting gritty. No overwhelming perfume either.

| Detangler advice Thank you for all the advice and recommendations......I ordered the tangler teez brush and will try the BIO groom spray and the Yorkie Splash product line as soon as I can find a source.....my Yorkie grooming supplies have surpassed the ones I use for my own hair lol....as you can imagine, I have quite a supply of the Cowboy Magic products...a 4 lb Yorkie bathed once a week does not drain a shampoo bottle very quickly! My Frankie comes with me when I work so he is quite the ambassador and I take pride in having him look his best..... |
