| Purse for two dogs I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a bag that will be comfortable and safe for two dogs (total of about 13 pounds between the two). I prefer a bag that looks like a purse as I like to bring them places with me (without people knowing it's a dog purse) but my main concern at this point is something that will be safe to have them in for about 7 hours when we fly home for the holidays. One fear is them getting too hot with each others body heat on a trip that long. Thanks so much for any advice!!! |

My concern was though, I have hard enough of a time carrying one (5lbs) on my shoulder without being exhausted, so there's no way I can carry the weight of two (~10lbs) on my shoulder. So in the end, I decided to carry my two in separate dog bags whenever I go out. My fiance has to carry the other one. It's not a very good photo, but this is what they use now: https://www.instagram.com/p/BM-PIAlh...cottieandcasie It's made of canvas, has a mesh on the front end, the back end, and the top - all of which can be covered. They love their bags and jump in whenever we go out. When they stay over at my mom's, Casie actually sleeps in her bag (because we don't trust her to not have an accident while she's visiting). I also have one that is black and looks great! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/alb...?albumid=17485 I tried putting the two of them inside and they barely fit. But they don't like cuddling so putting them in a tight space doesn't really work for them. Also, this black one doesn't have as much breath-ability. It has a mesh on the front and back end, both which can be covered, but the material doesn't breathe well. This bag..they definitely wouldn't want to be stuck in there for 7 hours.

| Thank you so much!!! I love those tan bags you have for them! Hopefully I'll have help from someone one day! Haha. I have that black one too! It was good for one but is a bit small for both. Occasionally I've made them squeeze in there for a quick trip into a store. I found a big bag that they can both fit in comfortably with plenty of ventilation. But, I quickly realized there was no way I was going to carry them through the airport. So, I ended up getting a roller bag that's also a backpack for them when we fly. It's great because I can carry them until I check my other bags then roll them through the airport. Definitely let me know if you find the name brand of the other one you like! Thanks so much again! 💞 |

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Monroe-Rylee, did you have to train your babies to travel in your purse, or were they just naturals? My first yorkie, Fancy, is coming home this Thursday (!!!!) and I'm hoping to be able to take her everywhere with me. I figured I'd just try her in a purse and see, but any tips anyone has would be greatly appreciated. |

Rylee was 10 months when I got her and we had to work on it a little. She would go in a hard sided carrier pretty well. So, I started her in one of those and then slowly transition her to the purse-bag... putting her in it for a few seconds, then a few minutes etc. And rewarded her when she was calm in the bag. She was got there in no time and now they both love their bags! I would just start Fancy right away in the bag you want to bring her around in; I bet she does just fine if she's young. Yorkies are so adaptable! And if she doesn't like it you just slowly get her used to it. I take mine everywhere with me... movies, grocery store, mall, even work meetings when I have not other choice. No one even know they're there! haha.

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Thanks for your reply, Monroe-Rylee! It's my goal to be able to being her everywhere, including the office, so my plan is to start early too. I never even thought of taking her to the movies, but #goals!

I've seen a video on IG of Scottie, i think it was, jumping in the bag! So cute! I usually put the girls in them because I just leave the bags buckled in the car lol. I need to teach to do this though! hehe.

Ooooh..that's a dangerous wish to make. Your lucky lucky ears!! I wondered why Scottie was such an angel when I first got him. I thought maybe I was just lucky and didn't get a typical Yorkie. For the first few months, people asked if he was a mute and why he never made a peep. He was such a quiet mouse. Then, once he discovered his voice...he hasn't stopped since. I guess it's nice to know when everyone in my condo is going out and coming home. hahaha.. Training him to stop barking was quite the task! By the time Casie came along, she learned pretty quickly from him. Needless to say, my entire neighborhood knows I have yappy Yorkies. Oh yes! I love when he jumps in his bag. One of the many things he does that I love. I had to get him accustomed to the bags because he didn't like them at first. You could probably easily train Monroe and Rylee by throwing in treats into the bag. And same here. Whenever they're in the car, they're zipped inside and seat-belted in. I couldn't ever imagine getting into an accident and seeing them fly through the windshield!

I am thankful they don't bark most of the time. But, sometimes I would like an alert of some kind... and I know even small dogs will deter people from breaking in because of the attention barking brings. Monroe hardly ever barked and then when Rylee came home she would do it out the window & stuff so I was sure that they'd both be barking in no time... but instead, Rylee learned to be quiet like Monroe. So interesting how they copy each other! We're going to work on getting them into the bag this weekend! Hehe. Yes, that's the exact image I've had in my head anytime I thought about letting them lose in the car. I was hit, pretty low impact once, but everything in my car thrown to the front & I pictured what would happen to one of my babies if they were loose & got thrown into the dashboard or worse... Definitely not worth the risk!

| Dog purse/pet carrier Quote:
Some of these pet carriers can be quite expensive but my advice is spend a little more because the quality of the bag will be much better and also look like a purse instead of a mesh suitcase. I would also recommend using a pet carrier/dog purse from the beginning, it does take them a bit to get used to it. I have two, one from Doggie Diva Boutique and the other from JCLA Boutique, love both of them, so does Sophie
