| Front Paw Carrier, bad for Yorkies? A sales lady at a pet supply store told me the front paw carriers (the ones that allows dogs to stick their paws out, almost like a human baby will use) are bad for dogs' health in general. Their bodies are not meant to sit like that. Is that true? Do you use one of these carriers for your yorkie?? What do you think?? I REALLY need help on this... |

| I would be very much afraid of dangling legs. I would be afraid that the leg holes, if they didn't fit perfectly could put pressure on delicate areas and cause tissue damage. |

| I don't know for sure, but it looks uncomfortable for dogs to me. I don't thing that dogs were meant to sit that way. |

| i have one for buckeye. he hasn't been in it for a long time but he loved being in it. and the vet said it was ok. that is the way we took him into home depot. he loved being in it. you have to make sure the size is just right for them. or i think it would hurt them. make sure the tail hole is fit right etc. Oh and i for got to mention it is great for clipping nails too.

| I have one of those too but only use it occasionally. It works fine and mine act like they enjoy it, the puppies. I don't like having their legs dangling though so I like to keep my arm tucked underneath.

| i think those are fine for dogs under 5lbs. anything over 5lbs it's not recommended. i didn't think it would be comfortable for the dog either, until i made a make-shift sling that does the same thing. bunjee actually kinda liked it, being able to dangle his feet. i like the idea 'cause it serves both as a carrier and as a harness. i had wanted to get one from puppypurse.com but they're so expensive. bunjee will eventually be bigger than 5lbs anyways, so it would have been a short term novelty. |

| I prefer my backpack carrier called the "dog gone" carrier. We use it for bike riding and x-c skiing, and it is the BEST pet-related purchase I have made. It is not a totally enclosed carrier (like for airline travel ) because the pet's head is sticking out. Like the manufacturer says, it is the first carrier designed for the enjoyability of the dog, and I believe it. You can buy them at a bunch of places--just do a google for Dog gone carrier. Here is one place with a good photo.... http://www.valleyvet.com/ct_detail.h...2-00b0d0204ae5 |

| I went to several pet stores today and found another one that maybe better... It's called Pet Hipster. From the picture they have on the box, it looks like you can only have it on the side of your hip (hence, hispter). In reality, you can adjust it anywhere you like (right side, front, left side). It's pretty cozy and intended for pets smaller than 7lbs. I like it a lot. So far, I've found it on Amazon though it's selling through Petco (online exlusive, I checked, stores don't carry them). It's selling for $25-ish (shipping included). That's the best price I've found so far. |

| Here is another style that I have that I like a lot...I'm keeping this one but you can buy it on ebay for 7.99. Here is the link Thought you might want to see it. IT's very light weight and is made to fit a child but also fits a small woman. It's simple but I like it http://cgi.ebay.com/Kids-Pet-Pocket-...QQcmdZViewItem edited to say that the legs don't hang out in this one edited again to say that they also have the "Pet Hipster" on ebay
