| Dogvacay.com experience I just wanted to post a quick review of my positive experience with the site dogvacay.com - I realize this in large part because of who I chose, but, incase there are any fur parents out there who don't know about dogvacay, Id like to share. My Maggie May is a timid girl, a mill rescue, and I could never board her at a kennel. I think it would about do her in. I work from home and she is always with me. When we travel she tags along. I recently posted that over Easter we had a close call when she tried to bite my little nephew. It was awful, nobody got hurt but I knew immediately I would not be able to bring her on trips that included kids anymore. HEART BREAKING! To further complicate matters, we just moved from Ohio to SC, and do not have any family or friends in the area who I can count on to dog sit. My sister in law suggested dogvacay.com - a network of people who dog sit in their homes. You register on the site, review sitters in your area, then book and pay through the site. Easy! You can do a "meet and greet" for free, to be sure the sitter is a good fit. My advice: do it. Meet the person, meet his/her own dogs...ask ALL the questions you want...where do the dogs sleep? Where are they kept if the person leaves the house? Does the host take in pit bulls and other aggressive breeds? Before doing any overnights, I decided to to a day (10-5pm) just to make sure Maggie May would be ok. And though it may have been harder for ME...when I returned this evening Maggie May was happy and playful, and clearly had a good time Priceless. I feel SO lucky to have found a place for her to go on the occasions that it is not safe for her to travel with us. I know there are many other fur babies out there who just wouldn't do well in a kennel, and I am not sure what I would have done had I not learned this option. Love having peace of mind that my fur baby is in good hands, in a cage free environment!
