| Officially switching from "Advantage" I've been using a combination for flea/heart worm control for several years on my yorkies. We live in a heavily infested mosquito area in the summer. It is just getting to the point where I have to look at another route to take. I've always used "Advantage" for flea control, and "Sentinal" for heartworm. Never seen a flea. Well, I am really tired of having two differnent meds to administer each month. I am planning to start using "Revolution" on Monday since my yorkies are due to have their heartworm/flea meds on Sunday. I've purchased the Revolution although I have a slew of Advantage left over. I am completely out of my Sentinal. Do any of you use Revolution and if so, do you like it? I know it covers a more broad spectrum of gastrointestional worms than the Nemex and Panacur I use for the other types of worms. (so see, there's a 3rd med I've had to administer every 4 months.) I did try to consult my vet on this, (she was out of office when I was there yesterday, and I was "sold" on the Revolution by her vet tech.) But nothing is better than actual yorkie owners experiences with certain products...Just wanted some input while it isn't too late for me to return it and seek another route... One of our really sweet members informed me a while back of a place that I could order these same meds. So if this is a product that is safe, and works, I can order it in the future for less than I would pay at my vet. Anyone? |

| I m currently using Heartgaurd Plus this helps with the the worm side and ive been using the Frontline for flees. We are usually flee free but we still have some outbreaks. i guess depending on what neihbors move in next and how many pets they have that 99% of the time ,dont have their pets on any preventatives. I have three dogs so this is alittle costly. I called my vet to ask about Sentinel. Sentinel claims to prevent all different kinds of worms and fleas for one month.Ive seen that it is cheaper then giving the heartgaurd for worms and then the frontline for fleas since its combined into one.My vet advised me that the only difference is that the flea has to bite to die where with the frontline the flea supposibly will die on contact with the skin.He also said both most product out there work all the same. Here in florida you cant get the heartworm preventative without a veternarian perscription so that keeps most of these products only sold in a veternarians office. So i dont know if this helps any, but i was going to try the Sentinal and see how it works with the fleas as far as the heart worm disease its a very very common thing in florida and all products will work to prevent it. |

| Great!! Revolution is great and goes immediately into the bloodstream. I'm not sure but you may want to add JB Pet Wholesale to your list. Not sure if they have it but do carry some meds and they do not require a minimum purchase.

| Robbie check into Ivermectin far less expensive than revolution and you dont need a prescription, the dulition is 3 parts rubbing alcohol, it fights against heart worm, various other worms, mange and fleas. Dont buy the powder its available in topical. After you mix you drop 6 or 8 drops on the nape of the neck every month. Also pyran 50 for worming its 1cc per 10lbs. hope this helps

| I had to treat 19 (9 adults and 10 pups) yorkies...for ear mites brought in by a pup I bought and made the mistake of not quarinteening from the others for a certain period of time. I tried typical ear mite meds and didnt get it all some kids began scratching on their bodies so I used the revolution within 48 hours all mites and itching was gone. I bought large breed for $95.00 instead of buying for each pup and adults weight which would have cost hundreds. I was then told by a very well respected breeder about Ivermectin...It costs about $35.00 and the bottle will last me for years worth of treatments.

Yes, Ivermectin is used by my good friend. Do you get yours from a vet, or have you found a place to order? | |
