| What kind of brush/comb, shampoo and conditioner do you use? New yorkie owner here Hello, I already had Max groomed, had to cut his hair very short because of the mats and fleas he had when I got him. He has dandruff and very dry skin. What kind of brush am I supposed to use on his hair? How often should I brush it? Also, What shampoo/condtioners do you use? Thanks! |

| I use #1 syhttp://mjmcompany.com/1allsystems-grooming.htmstem botanical conditioner and #1 super cleaning & conditioning shampoo. To keep fleas off, just use 3 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to 1 qt. of warm water and pour over "after" you have rinsed the conditioner and don't rinse again. Just towel dry. This is the one I use: Bragg Live Foods, Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar, Bragg Liquid Aminos,Systemic Enzymes, Bragg Live Organic Food Products, Patricia Bragg, Paul Bragg, Bragg Organic Olive Oil, Bragg Salad Dressings, Bragg Seasonings, Bragg Health Products Brush daily with a bristle/pin combo brush. Have a slicker brush on hand to get out any mats, but don't rake it over the skin. Winter months, my girls also get a hot oil treatment twice a month.

I might try out Biogroom Oatmeal Shampoo, and then the Biogroom Silk Conditioner. Plus they can be got at I think Pet Valu stores. Daily brushing is good, it will stimulate the skin and hair follicles. You must brush from tip to root so that you don't accumulate mats

| daily brushing and combing also help to prevent fleas because it would get read of some flea eggs, and you can do flea checks when you brush. I use a regular dog comb first, starting from the end, patiently reaching the roots. The groomer recommended not to bath her often. Instead, do a theral bathing every two weeks if you can help it, but clean her face. Make sure that you clean under her ayes before brushing it because the goo build up will make the hair brake. The groomer uses coat magic, so to save some money, I went to the pet store, and I bought the conditioner which was on sale that day.

| My baby is 10 years old and had both issues with alergies and dry skin. I buy the Aveeno liquid body wash (with the oatmeal) for her body and baby shampoo for her face. Tried tons of conditioners and only pantene works for her. Both vet and groomer says the Aveeno is not only fine to use on her, they always comment on her coat. She no longer has dry skin and never chews her paws. My guess is that you will need to experiment to find what works best for yours. For brushes, I use a Chris Christensen wooden pin brush, then use the same brand boarshair brush for finishing. |

| I use Minksheen shampoo. It is all natural, containes natural insect repellants. I hve not used any other flea meds for over a year and no fleas at all. It also leaves a beautiful shine! I can also recommend the Espree products. I love the Luxury Remoisturizer and the Silky Show Conditioner is nice too! They have several shampoos that I like -- the Silky Show Shampoo and the Hypoallergenic Coconut Shampoo are two I keep on hand. I will occasionally use the Espree products in between using Minksheen. I like the smell of the Espree better but hard to beat the natural flea repellants in Minksheen. On puppies and faces, I use Fluffy Puppy from BioGroom. Smells great and is no-tear. Since you dog has dry flaky skin already, I would recommend starting with the Espree products -- specifically use the Luxury Remoisturizer. You could choose from Oatmeal shampoo or either of the two I mentioned above. I use a Madan brush. So nice and easy on them and helps taking a tangle out without pulling. Also need a good metal comb. Brush daily! This is important for yorkies as their hair can mat with inattention.

| I have a brush with real pighair, its the best for the coat, I use it if he's with a short cut, and with long hair, always, Its really good using it when I blowdry them, the coat gets dry sooner Then I use a steel comb very much when I'm putting a plastic band in his hair If he has short hair, you dont have to brush him much, just now and then brush with a pighair brush over the coat , it makes it more shiny, I also spray all over him a spray on conditioner after bath, no matter if he has short or long hair I use Pet Silk coat products on him, I think it works the best I dont like Bio Groom,If i use it I have to bathe him twice more often (twice a week instead of once a weak) it doesnt clean the coat well. I use Pet Silk Rainforest shampoo, Pet Silk Rainforest Conditioner, and Pet Silk Rainforest Leave-in Conditioner (i use that for mats, and before i brush him i spray that on him, I mix it 50/50 with water when I just spray it before I brush him, on matts I use it straight from the bottle, no mixing). I think it works the best! I also love Pet Silk Mountain Berry, sometimes I use Mountain Berry and sometimes Rainforest
