| Yorkie size collars? I was just wondering where some of you get collars for your little fur babies?? I have the worst time finding Dakota collars..the only ones the pet stores here have are the little plain ones, and they are cheaply made. I always find adorable ones..but they are too big. |

| It's best not to use a collar but a harness for your baby as yorkies have delicate tracheas and can be damaged easily. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | These are cute. I have collars for their tags, but I walk them on harnesses. The Hydrant Where Dogs Want To Be by TheHydrant on Etsy |

| When I was ordering harnesses I also noticed that chattiesmom makes silk collars as well. But etsy (like the link above) is a great place to look because almost everything is custom made, even if it is a little too big people can usually make it smaller for you.

| Small Collars I use a collar for tags, too. I have found one collar that fits my dogs neck and it isn't very flattering to her. So I would like to know the same thing. |

| I don't ever walk Dakota on her collar...I have used a harness from day one. I have been terrified of her damaging her trachea. I do however have a collar on her for her tags...I look in the cat section now and again but never find anything I like..thanks though. I will check esty, thanks! I will keep looking, please let us know if any of you know a good place!! |

| eBay, amazon.com, and specialty local pet stores usually have better choices!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I get mine here: Cloe's Collars I just LOVE them! She is so great. For Marcel who is a small guy (3 lbs), I ask her to do the "ribbon-on-ribbon", rather than ribbon-on-canvas - and it's the perfect lightweight collar, but sturdy. Marcel has this one, in break-away: Cloe's Collars

| I've got rolled leather ones on my furbabies. I found them at a local pet boutique. However, like others, I only walk them on a harness. Auburn Leathercrafters, Collars, Round Collars

| I ordered collars from Cindy (chattiesmom) to go with our new harnesses and leashes. I can't wait until we get them, I'm sure they'll be beautiful! |

| Thanks for the information on cute collars. I had to settle for a ferret collar for Sherlock's tags. Cat collars are way too big. Last edited by tracybones; 05-12-2010 at 10:46 AM. |

| Puppy collars I found a cute little pink one at PetCo (pink with different color pink dots). It fit my 10 week, 8 oz baby when I brought her home. I used the collar tags from luckpet.com too. They fit snug around the collar and don't dangle too low (perfect size for small ones). I also put a little bell on the collar so I know where my babies are. I use the collars for identification only; I use a harness to walk them and use in their car seat. |

| To fancy up a plain collar I take fabric cut it to the collar length and a little more than 2 times the width. I use a low temp glue gun to glue the fabric over the plain collar. Covering the front first, fold under the short ends to make a nice edge, then hot glue the fabric to the front only, then flip over and glue down one side, next fold over a 1/4 inch or so of the last side so that the rough edge does not show, fold it over the collar and glue down. Making sure you have covered the rough edge of the first side you folded over. You can then glue rhinestones , flowers, or add names with fabric paint to the front of the collar. Now you have a custom made collar that doesn't cost much, and you can make them to match existing outfits, or for holidays. You can also brag you made it yourself. These should only be used for tags as any collar should, but they can be done so cute, and it's not hard and only take about fifteen minutes to make one once you get the hang of it. I usually use break away, puppy, or cat collars for these. |
