| Will an xpen really keep a yorkie confined? I'm still trying to find a way to keep my little 17 week old Rucker confined while I am at work. Baby gates don't work. Who out there actually has found an xpen to work? Rucker climbs AND jumps.

| If you have a climber, you have to get a 3 foot one. I have also stacked two gates one on top of the other for a climber. Neither my jumper or climber get over the 3 foot one. |

| O yes, they work! I love mine... If I go out, I dont have to worry ,I just hook pen to sides of the kennel and leave the kennel door open... When home I open it all the way like a zig zag across my doorway from kitchen to rest of the house..(big kitchen, open floor plan) That way I know THEY ARE SAFE! Never had an issue with it... |

| May I suggest a soft sided one?..... We got one from Petsmart and I think it would be much safer than the wire ones, especially if you are not going to be there to supervise.

| I know they make covers for xpens, but I can't find them! Are they just called xpen covers? Am I searching for the wrong thing?

NEW PET CAT KENNEL DOG PUPPY PLAYPEN EXERCISE PEN GREEN - eBay (item 160407154976 end time Mar-23-10 22:16:33 PDT) It's only 49.90 if you hit the buy now button. Brandi was an escaped artist and so far this has been the only expen or crate she has not been able to escape. She almost got out one time because I placed her in the ex-pen by one of the zippered side doors instead of the top. She was able to push against it and was almost able to get out. Now I put her in through the top and she can't get out. It has a bottom too so you don't have to worry about your floors or carpet. The bottom is also removable and is held in place by velcro. I love this expen...Brandi still hates it though. What I noticed Brandi (and Rucker maybe the same way) about Brandi was she paid attention to the door I placed her in and she would try to get out through the same door. I know my baby's a genuis . Anyway I found this ex-pen and as long as I put her in through the zippered top, she cannot escape. It's mesh and is much safer and roomier (4 feet in diameter) than her old wired crate which I don't even use anymore. No point, she figured out how to get out of that long time ago. | |

| I love my ex pen and never had any problems. Zeus is not a climber, once I even forgot to lock it and he never got out. Midwest does sell the tops to connect to. |

| We use an xpen when we leave our darling. She has always been safe, but, we don't leave her more than a few hours at a time. I would video the first few times, and not actually leave the house--to see how he does and if he is safe. A few yorkies on here have been able to hop out and find lots of trouble. I would also puppy proof the room the xpen is in, just in case! |

| We just returned our xpen because she was jumping out of it and I was more afraid of her breaking a leg than I was of her being out in the room. We have a small, empty bedroom that she now has the run of. It's probably only a matter of time that she figures out the gate across the door, at which point I will put 2 across or shut the door altogether. It's amazing how smart these little guys / gals are! Good luck! |
