YT Addict | Opinions on some bows I made please I'm not looking to sell these or market them I promise, because I'm just making these for myself. But I know some out there may have some helpful tips on how I could improve to make them prettier for my Lolli. I didn't know what other category to put this in. Dsc01075.jpg Dsc01077.jpg On some of the bows I was attempting to make that 'smushed in' look on the bow, but I couldn't find any tutorials on anything like that on google. I just took some thread and hot glue and wrapped it around the middle of the ribbon, but it's not coming out how I like. Anyone have any tips on how I could obtain that? The ones I'm talking about are the very left one and the top pink one in the following photo. They look ok in the photo but up close they are not that neat looking they look messy. But also the look that this does is 'too' smushed. But if I lessened the hold the thread had it didn't look right. Dsc01074.jpg I started doing this because I can't afford to purchase other bows that I like for $5 a piece or such. I found a bunch of ribbon and beads and things I had from doing other crafts so I didn't have to spend any money to make these.

| I think you have the general idea on making the single loop topknot bows. The main thing with those is you need to wrap that thread around tighter and cinch the middle of the bows in more. I really can't explain how to make a bow without showing someone in person and I have developed certain techniques I do to get it to look exactly how I want. But my main advice is to use a needle and strong thread and after you stitch the center of the bow together, wrap that thread around the center tightly to cinch it in more. And then you can use dowel rods or things like pencils (small cylinder shaped things) to put inside the loops. And then use a brush-on or spray stiffener. And it usually just takes some practice too.

I'll have to get some stiffener that's a good idea.

I only tried the cinching in 2 of the bows in my photos.

When you stitch it together in the middle before wrapping it, do you mean just to stitch straight up to make the 2 loops or stitch it some other way to help cinch? I will try it through stitching instead of glue to see if it comes out differently.

While I clearly can't give away all my secrets, I'll also include a few tips on how to improve your bows. Perhaps I'll also add a few extra ribbons & embellishments so you can hone your skills. ~Susan

| Your package is on its way! It shipped out today at 4:04:16 p.m. I put together around 50+ different pre-cut ribbons, lots of embellishments, a bag of grooming bands plus I wrote up some general directions. I also made 3 free bows for Lolli and included those as well. Have fun experimenting with new designs and creations. Enjoy your bow-making! Happy Holidays ~Susan

| Great job on attempting your own bows and so sweet of you to send her some! I have a question, how do you make the bows have such a wonderful stiff look lol.....Rileys hair isnt quite long enough, but I still try to put it up in a band when I can........Im having a look at your site now and your bows are beautiful!!!!
