| Is it wrong to have our babies wear shoes? We bought those shoes for our furbabies as we want their paws clean all the time (they sleep on the bed with us), just like we can't imagine walking on the streets barefooted. Anyway, when we take them out for a walk, most people are awed by it and they get some attention, but SOME folks give us some look of disgusts and unbeliefs that they think we are killing our babies. There was even this one lady who blurted out "let them be dogs... dogs wear no shoes" - yup, she's got a point there... but it ain't her dogs, it's ours. My babies do not look like they feel any discomfort wearing them as they have gotten so used to them that they get blisters if they walk barefoot (one time we did make them walk barefoot as we figured we are going to give them a bath that evening.). Anyway, we are battling with some issues here and we just want to do the right thing for our babies... please shed us some lights... P.S. we posted a video with them wearing shoes - altho' that video was taken by someone else & posted in on youtube, much to our pleasant surprise.

| Lexie wears shoes because her feet get so cold she will take turns picking one up at a time...but she wants to be outside. With shoes she runs around worry free.

| this winter I used a rubber shoe that looks like a party balloon on Pucci's paws with a pair of socks on. i got the socks in the infant section at Walmart. the balloon shoes i got at "in the company of dogs" they come 12 in a pack for 20.00 per pack. they worked great and he loves running in the snow with them on. both he and GiGi wear them in the rain and have no fear running through mud and puddles. now i am going to get them a soft fur lined faux leather shoe for winter and a nice sneaker for spring/summer when i don't want them bear paw. i like it. i think it's a good idea. tina

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | I don't think there's anything wrong with shoes. I wouldn't use them, because Tucker would go insane. But a lot of people use them due to weather and whatnot, so I don't think its a problem.

| Don't worry about those people who say snotty stuff. It's your choice to make and if you are okay with it and your dogs are okay with it then that's all the matters. Alphy isn't too fond of cold and wet and picks his feet up like he doesn't want them to get wet. I only use booties though when it snows to keep the clumps off. I think shoes are fine.

| by the way all of my neighbors and passers by go absolutely gaga over my two when they see how warmly i dress my two in the winter....people in cars actually stop to comment how cute and how much they like there outfits. so these wackos who are making negative comments have some special problem all their own. tina

| I think its fine to have dogs wear shoes. Slade has pair, and I'm ordering Laney a pair b/c last year when we went on a walk a few hrs afterward she ended up getting violently ill. We finally figured out it was b/c someone in the neighborhood had but fertilizer or weed killer on the grass and she had stepped in it and licked her paws. I don't want my baby ever to get those nasty chems in her tummy again. I keep her off peoples main lawns, but some ppl fertilzie or put weed eater aroudn their mailboxes and ditches too.

| I don't think it is wrong one bit for them to wear shoes. Unless of course they truly hate it. Mine would wear shoes if I could find some that would stay on, lol. What some don't realize is that the shoes are for their protection. Do you know how hot it gets on asphalt when you are walking your dog? The shoes protect them from the heat and the cold and from getting stuck in their paw like glass, a rock or a stick. So no I don't think it is wrong for them to wear shoes. Just ignore their comments and take comfort in knowing that you are protecting your furbabies feet!!

| I was actually wondering the same thing...I live at the beach and I want to take her to the beach this summer but our beaches are all coral and urchins and rocks. I won't go barefoot on the beach...why should she? I do worry about sand and saltwater getting in the shoes and rubbing? Can anyone help me with that?

| I think it's fine as long as they get time with the shoes off, don't hate them, and they don't cause any issues with their paws. The only thing that worries me is you said they get blisters if they walk on the street. Dogs pads are supposed to be a little rough to protect them against the elements and rocks, ect. I believe if their pads get too soft it can cause issues for them. |

| Deff. don't let strange looks keep you from making your babies comfy! If they like shoes, let them wear shoes! I would but my addie would probably try and eat them! LOL!
