| [News] More Than 240 Dogs Seized From Puppy Mill http://www.kltv.com/Global/story.asp?S=7133712 9/26/07-Upshur County More Than 240 Dogs Seized From Puppy Mill http://kltv.images.worldnow.com/images/7133712_BG1.jpg http://kltv.images.worldnow.com/images/7133712_BG3.jpg http://kltv.images.worldnow.com/images/7133712_BG4.jpg http://kltv.images.worldnow.com/images/7133712_BG2.jpg They were living in their own filth and they were not being cared for, that is how Maura Davies of the SPCA of Texas describes the scene she saw. "It's the worst I've seen in years," she said. Cage after cage, kennel after kennel, dogs and puppies were found underfed, neglected and malnourished on a piece of property just outside of Gladewater. "It's extremely disgusting," said Davies. "There's feces everywhere, there's junk everywhere. The animals are just living in the most horrid conditions I can imagine." Yorkshire Terriers, Pomeranians, Boston Terriers, other small breeds of dog were locked up and used for breeding in a puppy mill--one of the worst Upshur County officials say the have ever seen. "This is the first time I've seen any situation when there's this many dogs in one place," said Upshur County Sheriff Anthony Betterton. "You hear of puppy mills everyday but you never really expect it until you come out to a situation like this." More than 240 dogs were found all over the property. Some dogs were already dead and others were saved in the nick of time because someone stumbled across the surprising sight. Upshur County officials say a man discovered the dogs when he came to the property looking to buy a camper trailer, but what he saw prompted him to get some food for all the mistreated animals. "Hopefully, at the end of the day, every one of these dogs will be going to a place where they can be taken care of and built back up," said Sheriff Betterton. The SPCA of Texas had that same hope as they carried dog after dog away from the property to where officials say they can get the proper care they need. "The way it seems to me is that the individuals that owned this property and was taking care of these dogs were looking out for greed, money, and whatever they could make off of these animals," said Betterton. "That's just totally embarrassing. It's uncalled for and it's inhumane." More than 240 animals saved today and countless animals rescued from years of abuse. | Those poor animals. How could any human being do that to poor helpless animals. I bet a majority of them will have to be put down because of their condition. How sad, those people should be locked up for good. |

| People like that make me sick. I think they should put them in cages for a year or two with little food and dirty water.

| This makes me sick to my stomach! They make a big deal and post pictures in the paper for all to see and say oh and ah and get sick and then give the owner's of these horrid places a slap on the wrist! It happens all the time. That's why these sicko's keep doing it over and over again and things never get better for the animals. |

| I just went to the Texas SCPA site and made a donation. I am sick to my stomach. Those people are in no doubt going to hell. I only hope and pray those poor animals will now have a happy and healthy life. And as sad as I am, I do hope that those that are too far gone will now be able to pass on and be rid of their terrible suffering ( crying now ) My prays are now for all the little angles that will no longer be suffering from this horrid place. And I will continue to pray for all that are still waiting to be rescued from other horrid places like this one. |

| OMG, I'm speechless! Those poor little darlings!! I hope they will now have a bright and happy future (except for the ones that are too far gone and will need to be humanely euthanized ). Those poor animals did NOTHING to deserve this!! I hope those disgusting bastards rot in hell!

| They only see $$$ signs. Hopefully they are all healthy enough to be eligible for adoption. Last edited by grayxie; 09-28-2007 at 12:16 PM. |

| "The way it seems to me is that the individuals that owned this property and was taking care of these dogs were looking out for greed, money, and whatever they could make off of these animals," That is the definition of a puppy mill ..they are ALL like that. There are plenty more.. which infuriates me.

| I am sooooooooooooo glad they were found out about!!!!! Did you read the signs on the gate?? What losers to do this...one down millions to go!! Thank god the athorities acutally listened to this person..I have been trying to shut down a local puppy mill to no avail..no ones listens no one responds... There is one lady that lives very close to me that has champion cockers...hers is one of the most popular chocoate cockers in Canada...we stopped at her house once to see if she had any litters upcoming or possibly ready and let me tell you..what I found in the back of her house was a filthy mess where her dozons of cockers lived!! They looked as though they hadnt been groomed for months and months and living in their own feces...it was so bad back there we could hardly walk through all the garbage and grass...her house was in shambles!! Her beautiful sportscar was in the driveway with the window rolled down and her purse on the front seat but do you think she would answer her door?? I think not!! I still see her face plastered in the magazines with her top show dogs...makes me sick everytime... I am glad someone shut this place down!! Maybe one of those dogs will be rescued by a YT member down the road..that would be sweet!! Dawn |
